TDEE, BMR, & Weightloss

My calculated BMR = 2014 and TDEE = 2417.
My goal was to eat 1700 calories for weightloss. From what I've been reading, it seems like I should be eating at least my BMR worth of calories but less than my TDEE.
I need advice... I'm getting confused. Thanks!

Based on these numbers, 1933 would be low enough (or 1950 as a good rounded number).
Basically calculate 20% off your estimated TDEE.
Estimated TDEE. Meaning that there's no way to know if it's accurate until you basically eat that number and test things out. If you lose on 1950, then keep at it. If not, then lower it a bit.0 -

So you have a sedentary desk job/commute of 45 hrs weekly, no kids, no dog walking, little shopping, and no exercise?
That's the level you picked - sedentary.
Any tool only works as well as you using it correctly.
Just as MFP can be fouled up by dishonest and unreasonable choices - so can the TDEE method.
Try this spreadsheet for best estimates of everything, including that exercise I'm betting you actually get some in but didn't include.

Description of what it does. But just stay on the Simple Setup tab and Progress tab. Don't let the colors glaze you eyes over, actually read what it says, it's asking for stats you already or should already have.

I eat at TDEE & used scoobysworkshop & iifym calculators online for my numbers. Seems to be working amazingly! I was stalled, 8 weeks I was only down 2 lbs, since switching to TDEE down 4 lbs in 3 weeks & super close to goal!
I do 25% decrease. Slow & steady baby! :-)

TDEE - 20%
Or 250-600 cal below TDEE
More than that and you'll catabolize muscle tissue. Be patient. Fat loss takes time.
Adjust numbers every 5 lbs.0
