How does everyone feel about last nights episode? :ohwell: Do you feel Dan & Don gained on purpose like Bob & Jillian made it seem??

I was shocked! Its seemed like they did. But when they showed him down to 215 pounds it made me feel like it was the right decision. He looked amazing! Better than someone going home who really wants to be there. But seriously 9+ pounds on both was crazy!!!!0
-
Yep!! To gain 9lbs that equates to 31,500 calories. Were else would you get that but by stuffing your self.0
-
To some extent they did. Bob was on to something when he said, "You just don't gain 9lbs on THE BIGGEST LOSER!"0
-
Maybe they put dumbells in their pants? .lol.0
-
If you water log you gain but I don't know if it would have been 9lbs. The twin really wanted to be home and so I think that was the best thing for him. I could possibly see him getting sick if he hadn't left. He is very co-dependent. Thats going to be an issue for him.
Now his brother has to bare the wrath of Jillian.0 -
I didn't want to be too quick to judge, but wow, +9 lbs, BOTH of them, just seems like something was going on. I always want to believe the best in people and i want to trust when they say they didn't do something, but that just seemed too off to me.
On another note, i LOVE Courtney's mind set and attitude!!!!0 -
They both TOTALLY threw the weigh-in. Don't know if anyone has watched past seasons but there was a contestant named Neil who downed gallons of water for an 11 pound gain just before the weigh in to get rid of a specific player. I bet they both did the same thing so Dan could go home, which seems to be the right choice--he's doing well!
Does anyone have a favorite to win this season?0 -
I'm not as interested in this season for some reason...but I did pay attention last night to the weigh in and was like WTF are you KIDDING ME???? They had to have done something to gain 9 lbs. That was insane.
My favorite is the...aqua team I think? The mother and daughter who's already lost 100 lbs on her own. She has got some serious self confidence and motivation and it is refreshing to see that on BL. Plus I think of her these days when I don't want to get my butt into the gym because I am sore or tired.0 -
im gutted..i love biggest loser but we dont have tv at my place til next week.. such a bummer not being able to watch my programmes while skipping or doing yoga ball stuff..
sounds like ive missed some good stuff so far as well =/
but roll on next week and ill be watching it0 -
I was like you got be kidding me!!, on Biggest Loser you
gained 9+ lbs. They must have ate and ate until the weigh in.
I thought Jillian was going to go nuts when she saw the
results. She was so shocked she had no words.
I hope the other twin can survive without the other one.
They seem to really depend on one another. :frown:0 -

Check out the episode on www.hulu.com or from the NBC website.
I have NEVER seen anybody gain 9 pounds on TBL. Glad I stayed up for it.0 -

I don't think they did it by calories. That can easily and quickly be done with sodium intake. Last July I went to a soul food restaurant on a vacation week...three times. I came back, got on the scale, and found a five pound (scale) weight gain from sodium only.0 -

Yep. Also, if it is true what some contestants have come out with, there's some serious dehydration going on before every weigh-in, plus taking of multiple doses of laxatives. I imagine that the typical contestant goes up several pounds immediately after weigh-in just by re-filling water stores and having a meal or two in the digestive system.0 -

Of course they did it on purpose. They are working out every day and still managed to consume 31,500 calories more than if they had maintained. That's over 20 days of food you would normally consume. IN ADDITTION TO WHAT THEY WOULD NEED TO CONSUME JUST TO MAINTAIN THEIR WEIGHT.0 -

They threw hands down.
I too am rooting for the aqua team. The daughter is going to lose a lot wether she winsBL or not, she is so focused.0 -
I was really surprised that they BOTH gained 9lbs. It struck me as really odd. I kept looking for something that might be on them physically, like weights. It didnt make sense. I was so surprised because it showed them both in the gym working hard.
I dont have a favorite yet only because I dont know what the "unknowns" attitudes are like - we've seen so little from that team so far.
I missed the 1st half of the show..can someone fill me in on what happened with Arthur - Bob said the Dr. upped his calories??? Was there an issue with him eating too little?0 -

I could do that.0 -
they threw it and they probably did it by drinking water. 1 gallon of water weighs 8lbs. they each drank a gallon and got lucky on the last pound. Plus this gaurantees that Dan or whichever one stayed will have immunity next week. Cause the water wont stay. He will lose like normal plus the 9 lbs!
Also if you go back and watch it one of them says something after Bob made his last comment that I thought proved that they threw it. If I can find a clip Ill post what he said0 -

I know what your talking about. Something along the lines of loosing so that Arthur could stay0 -

Mr Cope nailed it on the head. This was planned out perfectly. They already knew they were going to send Dan home, so why not take advantage for the other to get immunity for the other.
To fix things like that, they should have a rule in place: Anyone that gains weight while at the ranch is automatically sent home and/or disqualified. For all the exercise they do and diet they follow, there's absolutely NO REASON to gain weight there unless you do it on purpose.0 -
On the one hand, as a Nebraskan, my favorite for this year HAS to be Rulon Gardner, a UNL and Olympic champion :-) However, I also LOVE the daughter on the aqua team. Losing so much weight BEFORE she came to the Biggest Loser is absolutely amazing.
I've been hooked on BL for the last six or so seasons. Usually get a couple of miles on the treadmill in while I am watching! When I first heard the show's title, I was convinced it had to be something that put overweight people down. While I'm fairly sure I couldn't do the kind of workouts they do on the show, watching it has provided me with a lot of inspiration.
K0 -
See, I feel like Rulon and his partner are mean bullies. I don't like them..they make me GRRRR! I am guessing that as soon as the contestants all come together, everyone that was training with them will try to make a big alliance to vote them out.
But of course, along with everyone in the world I am head over heels for Aqua Courtney. She is a role model for everyone!
So, I figure that Dan and Don guzzled water before the weigh-in...I was wondering why only Dan didn't do it...why would they think they would need to gain sooo much to go below the yellow line? Don is going to either die or blossom...I hope it's a blossom...
I was also kind of frustrated that they didn't say anything about what Arthur was going through!! I saw the whole episode and there wasn't anything about him not being able to work out, or taking antibiotics or having his calories bumped. Come on editors, get it together!!0 -

That was surprising to me as well, but i figured that my husband and I were talking too much during the show and that I missed it.0 -
Every season is getting worse and worse. Its more drama now and its stupid.0

This might be the story line for this week. They only have time to really put out one storyline at a time. With them having two teams in separate places it looks as its even harder to do.0 -
I feel bad for the Black team b/c they are likeable guys, but seem to have a loser mind-set that keeps them from succeeding. I was so excited for them the first week (or second week?) when they both lost a big number after doing poorly in every challenge. Sabotaging their own success is totally in line with their personalities, though.
I don't like the unknowns!! How is it that they are so organized and win every challenge?? That Rulon and his boy are the leaders of that group, and I don't like them. Every time Rulon talks, he is talking about how he's an olympic gold medalist with "the heart of a champion." Give me a break, you gained 400 pounds, quit telling us you have the heart of a champion. It seems to me like when he applied for TBL, he had his story line already picked out. I'm not buying it. I haven't seen him struggle, just boss others around and tell them how their not doing good enough. That's not the heart of a champion; that's the heart of an s.o.b.
Ah well, done ranting! So when does the unknown's immunity run out?0 -
Grrrr SOTU took an hour off my TBL. I guess we have to wait til next week to see the weigh-in. I wonder if Don really wants to be there now or what. I was glad he "got all the beeps out," but I'm not convinced there was a break through.
NO ONE was surprised Aurther ate. His "I'm not letting anyone control my future" excuse was BS. He should know that no one there would have sent him to the unknowns. He just wanted to eat it all.0 -
I don't think it's a huge deal that Arthur ate, it was only 150 calories.
When they showed the board that broke down what the unknowns calories were for the day I was shocked. I knew they ate what I think is too little, but it was even less! It was barely over 1000 calories. They are probably burning 2000-3000 a day, that just doesn't seem right.0 -
I was really surprised by that calorie count too...it was something like 1057. No wonder some of them are losing 20+lbs a week! When I saw that menu I thought "my lord, I'd be starving all day!" I'd be the crankiest SOB there!0

Me too I paused the tivo and showed the wife I was a mazed and NO in between meal snacks. No Fresh fruit! I was stunned! Does BL not believe in eating your calories?
Yesterday I ate 1700 and shorted myself 400 + because of exercise. I dont understand how they could possibly do this. Aside from the fact that they are so over weight their bodies will not believe they are starving for a long time.0
