Desk Job

Options
Does anyone know of a good list of exercises that can be done at my desk?
Started doing squats and dips, can anyone think of any others?

Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated..

    Squats, dips, push ups, decline pushups, inverted rows if there is room under the desk. Planks, all kinds of planks. Leg lifts under the desk. If only I had a pullup bar i'd never leave the cube.

    I just asked my boss if I purchased it on my own, could I get an exercise ball chair. I had to show him a picture of it so he could see that it has a base to it so it would be stable in my cubby but he said sure!!! He was just concerned that I could get hurt or it would roll around and get in other people's way.

    My cube is way too visible to everyone to be able to do any exercises in it, so I just make sure to get up and take a walk around the office often, and I do 20 squats in the bathroom stall every time I go :) There's a gym in the building so sometimes I'll walk on the treadmill during my lunch break but I prefer eating lunch with my pals and working out before/after work.

    I made little flash cards and I pick a few out each day so I'm not just sitting at my desk for 8 - 10 hours a day, here's some sites I've found along the way :)

    I bought a mini exercise bike that I use under my desk some days (its just the pedals, its awesome, bought it on amazon for like $50) and I also stand (I have a laptop and an adjustable stand so its easy) and then I do squats and lots of stretching.

    My company has a program we can download called "Stretch Break". We set how often we want a reminder, and it pops up on our computer screen and shows three stretches we can do (the stretches rotate throughout the day, so we're not doing the same three each time).

    I get my exercise in by walking around the "pod" that has the bathroom for the floor my office is on. I circle the 'pod' before and after going to the washroom. :wink:

    You could try a stand up desk, or if you are more adventurous a treadmill desk.

    There are an unlimited number of options to burn more calories over the course of a day:

    1. Wear a weight vest
    2. Take stairs instead of the elevator
    3. Bike to/from work
    4. etc

    I love my time at the gym and wouldn't want to "squeeze in" my work-out while I am trying to do my job. To me that would not be a true work-out.

    If you can make it happen, join a gym or get some equipment for home and give 100% to your work-outs.

    Don't know if this would count, but whilst seated, just try lifting one leg and thigh up off the seat, and hold as long as you can. Switch legs, repeat as often as you think of it.

    I do this on the bus or train too if I can do it surreptitiously without getting odd looks :laugh:
