I am running approximately a 5K every other day and doing 10K runs on Saturdays. I am currently 5' 7" @ 153lbs but trying to get down to about 144. Problem: I have no idea what my calorie intake should be to improve running distance/time while going for small weight loss goals. Any suggestions?

There's this web sight called MFP. What happens is you put your stats in and the amount you have to lose and they give you a calorie amount to eat. When you go for a run you can then enter your exercise so you eat those calories back to help fuel your running. I hear some people have lost a lot of weight and got very healthy using that system.

Read the sexy pants link already provided.
Make sure you set an appropriate loss rate goal, since you have about 10 lbs to lose that would be 0.5 lbs/week or less. Trying to create too much of a deficit will impact your running because you are taking in less energy. Get content with the idea that your loss will be slow and thats ok, because your a runner and being a runner is awesome!
Similarly, don't fall into the low carb pit unless you want to give yourself a nice long adaption period with lots of crappy runs. There are low carb runners out there but if you are not used to it its tough business. There are plenty of websites with great macro suggestions for runners. If you want help in that area feel free to friend me and I can try to dig up the resources I used.0 -
