Hello brides!

It’s week 4….Our board is officially a month old! We have shared so much already with each other about our weddings and weight loss….But I know there is much more to know about each other! Let’s keep up the positive atmosphere we have all created!

I think we all got the swing of how our board works, so I will make this short and sweet! (If you are new, please look back on the support and motivation boards for previous posts from weeks 1 and 2 if you would like.)
How to upload a photo: Go to www.photobucket.com, it’s a free service, and upload your photos. Copy and paste the IMG code (there is a list of codes, easy to find on the site) onto your message post. Change the capital IMG code at the beginning and end of the code to lower case img. Your photo will appear when you make the actual “post.” (I will post this each week.)

Week 4 challenge: Let’s focus this week on stress relief. Planning a wedding and trying to become healthy can be very stressful….especially since we are all trying to do both at once! I found a good website that gives healthy coping tips on how to handle stress. Check it out! www.helpguide.org/mental/stress_management_relief_coping.htm I know we all have busy schedules. Try to take 10 minutes of the day and have that time to yourself…..not doing anything! Just relax and let the stress melt away. Happy relaxing!

    1. Weight loss/inches lost this week: gain of .6 :( not sure it's entirely accurate because I was lower other days but this was weigh in day so I posted it
    2. Highlight of the past week: connecting with some friends from the job I left for this one (meeting up with them this next week) AND pushing through 2 HR of cardio at the gym Saturday. It actually felt really good :)
    3. Lowlight of the past week: really the gain is annoying :( I need to do better. I don't want to get discouraged!! I've been giving in to some tempting and unhealthy dinner options :(
    4. What is your first dance song and are you taking dance lessons/planning a “special” performance: n/a
    5. About how many people will be attending your wedding: n/a
    6. Any wedding news updates: n/a
    7. How is your fiancé handling your healthy living changes: my boyfriend has been ok with it. He is supportive but it would be helpful if he was changing with it too. It would be helpful to have him as a workout buddy. Nonetheless I need to do it!

    8. How did you do with the week 3 challenge (adding 10 minutes onto each workout): If you count my 2hr workout Saturday :) then good haha. I worked out Monday for 20 but didn't feel like my heart was in it. Saturday was the bomb but I need to ensure 3-4 tough workouts during the week!
    9. Weekly wrap up: hey I'm still here :) and I have to say having our group does help me feel accountable. This is about the time I really want to give up to a certain degree out of frustration. You gals being here helps me stick with it. Your progress makes me want more progress and I appreciate it!!!!

    Have a great week! :-D

    1. Weight loss/inches lost this week: I've gained 1.8 lbs!! ARRRR!!!! however it was my birthday last thursday and i did have some cheeky wines and did no exercise over the weekend! booo. must try harder!
    2. Highlight of the past week: (not weight, just something exciting that happened): My birthday on Thursday. Had a fabulous day!!
    3. Lowlight of the past week (not weight, just something that you need support with): I was naff on the exercise. I'm starting to get slack with it and the nearly 2lb gain has shown that. I need something new to get my teeth into.
    4. What is your first dance song and are you taking dance lessons/planning a “special” performance: secret!! its not actually a song but a 2minute long interlude. The actual song makes for 6.30mins of lone dancing and the boyf can't hack that!! we're still trying to think of a song after the interlude that everyone else can join in on!
    5. About how many people will be attending your wedding: around 100
    6. Any wedding news updates: going back to the venue to put down the deposit! yay!!
    7. How is your fiancé handling your healthy living changes: he has taken to calling me skinny. He is taking the mick!! but is generally very supportive
    8. How did you do with the week 3 challenge (adding 10 minutes onto each workout): fail! again! you're lucky i did the workouts at all!
    9. Weekly wrap up: Just like Eaglesfan.... i feel stuck! i've hardly lost any weight and i am getting bored with it. i'm going to vary the exercise and hopefully see a loss next week which will spur me on!
  • Brides on a Mission: week 3
    1. Weight loss/inches lost this week: I haven't lost anymore weight, hopefully by the end of the week I'll lose another pound.
    2. Highlight of the past week: (not weight, just something exciting that happened):my mothers birthday was Saturday and it was nice getting together with my family
    3. Lowlight of the past week (not weight, just something that you need support with): money, money, money..lol but no one can help me with that :0(
    4. What is your first dance song and are you taking dance lessons/planning a “special” performance: We decided that our song would be "its your love" by Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill, we are trying to take salsa classes but he's been working almost everyday to make this wedding happen so its hard to make it to class.
    5. About how many people will be attending your wedding: 85
    6. Any wedding news updates: sending out my invites next week, they are almost ready.
    7. How is your fiancé handling your healthy living changes: he is actually doing better than me, he has also joined MFP and he lost more weight than I have. He has a very active job and he doesnt eat as much as I do since I sit at my desk all day and think about food..lol
    8. How did you do with the week 3 challenge (adding 10 minutes onto each workout): I barely worked out this week so I didnt do very good.
    9. Weekly wrap up: I am glad I made it to week 3, I am proud of myself for eating better, I am trying not to focus on how much I lose a week because I don't want to get discouraged. I just want to focus on eating better and keeping it that way.
  • Hey everyone!

I have not written in a while. My fiancee had knee surgery on the 14th and that evening my future father in law had a heartattack. He inded up needing a quintuable bypass and heart valve repair last Thursday. Both my men are doing well now but I am afraid it has taken a toll on my eating and my desire to workout.

Now that everyone is stable I am back on track and ready to lose some of this weight!

Brides on a Mission: week 3 (Please copy and paste this into your profile)

    1. Weight loss/inches lost this week: Gain of 7lbs in a week and a half.....didn't know you could even gain that much and such a short period of time

  • Brides on a Mission: week 3
    1. Weight loss/inches lost this week: I will weight in on Thurday :)

    2. Highlight of the past week: (not weight, just something exciting that happened): Family came intown yesterday and staying for a week! My cousin is my matron of honor!

    3. Lowlight of the past week (not weight, just something that you need support with): Sitting on the couch Thursday afternoon because it got hit with the sleepies! I dont know what was up but I couldn't wake up or get warm at all!

    4. What is your first dance song and are you taking dance lessons/planning a “special” performance: We didn't pick a song yet. We will be going for dance lessons!

    5. About how many people will be attending your wedding: Around 250, I am hoping no more but it is looking like it!

    6. Any wedding news updates: Made the down payment and signed the contracts for our DJ and photobooth!

    7. How is your fiancé handling your healthy living changes: He is supportive. He sometimes get the "eating healthy" thing but dosen't always do it.

    8. How did you do with the week 3 challenge (adding 10 minutes onto each workout): Good for the most part. I did one day the best (100cal burn extra) but the other days the machine i was on wasn't working right and i didn't really have time to start over. When I go to hot yoga (2x/week) I just sit and relax for -10min because its a no-talking/moving around zone afte class.

    9. Weekly wrap up: Good overall. I had been looking forward to a burger all week. When I got to the pub...everyone was waiting about 90min before they were going to order! I didn't eat anything but fruit that morning and was so ready to eat my 1/2 burger and 1/2 order fries. But then by the time we actaully ate I was soooooo hungry that i ate everything except the top part of the bun! Then I was so full the rest of the day that I had to force myself to be polite at my fiance's Godmothers house for dinner. I wasn't hungry at all but she would have been offended if i didn't eat!
  • 1. Weight loss/inches lost this week: 0.8 loss. Not great, but considering this included a weekend away (I weigh in on thursdays), i'm pretty stoked

    2. Highlight of the past week: (not weight, just something exciting that happened): Fiance is a teacher, I'm a grad student, so we had a snow day on Friday and did our registry!

    3. Lowlight of the past week (not weight, just something that you need support with): my boss is still a douche.

    4. What is your first dance song and are you taking dance lessons/planning a “special” performance: "For You" by John Denver...a song Mike picked out. We do plan on taking lessons, we just haven't gotten there yet. Hopefully over the summer

    5. About how many people will be attending your wedding: 100

    6. Any wedding news updates: Registry is done. And I know my bridesmaids and mom are planning my bridal shower. it's all seeming so real!!

    7. How is your fiancé handling your healthy living changes: He is very supportive, i just wish he'd join me. but our schedules do make it difficult to get into a routine which I think is the biggest hurdle in healthy living

    8. How did you do with the week 3 challenge (adding 10 minutes onto each workout): not so great. with all the snow days, Mike was around and it's very hard to do tae bo in front of him! hoping this week i'll get back to my goal of 4 times a week.

    9. Weekly wrap up: Feeling pretty good. Slacked a little bit on the water, but overall 5 pounds lost since the new year and about 10 since my heaviest. feeling better about squeezing into those jeans i used to dread!

    1. Weight loss/inches lost this week: 2 lbs!

    2. Highlight of the past week: (not weight, just something exciting that happened): Went out for pizza on Saturday and actually said no to that third slice ^.^ Oh! and going shopping with my fiancé and buying clothes without W's on them. Last month I bought a pair of jeans in a 16w and now if I wear them for more than a few hours they start falling down. So I tried on a regular 16 this past week and... They fit! hahaha. There is a very little muffin top action going on but I bought them anyway. I figure its better to buy them a little tight. I will be able to wear them longer. That and they were on super clearance for 10 dollars at Jc Penny..

    3. Lowlight of the past week (not weight, just something that you need support with): Not working out this weekend. I was bad.

    4. What is your first dance song and are you taking dance lessons/planning a “special” performance: Right now my favorite first dance songs are:
~ Such Great Heights - Iron & Wine cover
~Heaven (Candlelight Remix) - DJ Sammy
As of right now we weren't planning on taking any lessons or anything. (although.. that would be fun!)

    5. About how many people will be attending your wedding: Right now the list is at 115ish people. We might cut some though. (we are poor, and to feed that many is crazy!)

    6. Any wedding news updates: Not really.

    7. How is your fiancé handling your healthy living changes: I actually have encouraged him to eat better and work out more. Which at times is kinda annoying (like when I want to eat something unhealthy... haha)

    8. How did you do with the week 3 challenge (adding 10 minutes onto each workout): I think i did that to 2 of the 3 workouts I did last week.. My goal this week is to work out 5 days.. See if I can just stick with it. :)

    9. Weekly wrap up: I feel good about my progress so far. Being part of this group has really helped out. Since I have to own up to what I am doing.

Hahaha! I know the feeling. My fiancé works from home and his "office" right now is in the living room. It does make it kind of hard to work out when he is sitting there trying to do his work. I feel like I am going to distract him and he will start laughing at all my flailing while doing workout videos. (I am less than graceful) haha
  • 1. Weight loss/inches lost this week: Not sure yet, weigh-in is Wednesday
    2. Highlight of the past week: (not weight, just something exciting that happened): Got some good leads on where to get our cake and we've started looking at invitations
    3. Lowlight of the past week (not weight, just something that you need support with): Freaking out about catering costs. Also, no longer have a gym membership, my dad lost his job and had to discontinue it. Aghhhh, now what will I do! Have to MAKE myself do work out videos at home!
    4. What is your first dance song and are you taking dance lessons/planning a “special” performance: Haven't decided yet.
    5. About how many people will be attending your wedding: 100-125
    6. Any wedding news updates: Paid for the venue! Super excited!
    7. How is your fiancé handling your healthy living changes: He's totally fine with it. He is actually doing his own thing at home also. We don't live together but he stays at my house on the weekends and those are always the hardest for both of us. We go out to eat pretty often.
    8. How did you do with the week 3 challenge (adding 10 minutes onto each workout): N/A
    9. Weekly wrap up: Gotta get busy working out, I've been trying to get a hold of my eating habits before I start working out and I think I am ready to start!

We're not doing dance lessons. I think just swaying in place, hugging each other and kissing a little is so sweet and romantic. It's natural.... I don't need to learn choreography and worry about messing up on the big day. I want everything to be relaxing...:-) I think we can do that without stepping on each other's toes so much.

I've been sad this week because my one MOH backed out of the wedding. She lives in Colorado and her work won't give her the time off. I haven't seen her in eight years, so even though I know it's not her fault, I can help feeling a bit hurt. It's probably immature on my part, but I really feel sad that she can't be there.*sniffles* It also makes the bridal party uneven, but I guess I'll just have the gals walk up solo and have the guys stand in the front.

Since I only have one MOH and no bridesmaids, I'm also worried how the bridal shower will pan out. I don't want my one and only MOH to have too much weight thrown on her shoulders. Her husband has terminal cancer, so it's all a very touchy situation. Any suggestions?

so sorry to hear about her situation. could an aunt or cousin (from either your side or his) host the shower? Or maybe if one of your mothers has a very close friend whom has been in your (or your fiance's) life for years, she could host. I'm sure if you ask the right people, word of mouth may get around and someone will step up to the plate.

    7. How is your fiancé handling your healthy living changes: Like Meganne1982, he tells me I look fine the way I am and thinks my goal weight will make me too skinny. So I can't say he's totally on board with what I'm doing, but he's fine with whatever makes me happy. He never needs to watch what he eats so it's tough for him to completely understand
    8. How did you do with the week 3 challenge (adding 10 minutes onto each workout): Great, worked out one more day than I did the week before.
    9. Weekly wrap up: A better week workout and eating wise than the week before

    6. Any wedding news updates: ... I hate planning a wedding, and kind of want to elope...

I WAS THERE! I was sooooo ready to just cancel everything and disappear over the Christmas holidays and elope!! My mom and I were fighting over EVERYTHING. It's gotten better but this weekend is the dreaded guess list talk with her... she wants to invite so many people that I don't want at my wedding.. it's super annoying and since we are splitting the wedding 50/50 on cost and it's MY wedding, I feel like I should have final say... but apparently that makes me a bridezilla!

    4. What is your first dance song and are you taking dance lessons/planning a “special” performance: Our first dance is "this years love" by david grey...and Dave does want to take dance lessons, I already know how but he doesn't

We almost picked this song! We never really had a "song" and this was the one that just felt most like our song because we listened to it constantly when we first started dating... it's such a pretty song!

    1. Weight loss/inches lost this week: Lost 1.2 pounds this week! Down to 146.2!! I'm really hoping to get to 145 this week and be at the 10 lbs away from goal point!

    2. Highlight of the past week: (not weight, just something exciting that happened): Got two free club level tickets to go to the AFC Championship game in Pittsburgh and a free hotel for Sunday night! My fiance is a huge Jets fan so it was a really awesome experience!

    3. Lowlight of the past week (not weight, just something that you need support with): The Jets lost and the stupid Steelers are going to the super bowl AGAIN. I hate Pittsburgh sports teams with a ppasssiioonn. (HUGE washington capitals hockey fan also)

    4. What is your first dance song and are you taking dance lessons/planning a “special” performance: Our song is Brad Paisley "Then". We are getting dance lessons because I think it is just so beautiful to watch a couple do a choreographed first dance. The idea that you practiced the dance for weeks leading up to it and then when you watch the couple do the dance, the way they are looking at each other during it just says it all...

    5. About how many people will be attending your wedding: Uugghhh originally it wasn't supposed to go above 100. Now we're at 130 people and counting. If you want an invite to our wedding, just hold the door open for my mom or bring her the newspaper... then we'll HAVE to invite you because you were SO nice!

    6. Any wedding news updates: Apparently I've been slacking because my cousins are starting to send me messages like "Where should we be booking a hotel room?" and "Have you given any thought to the flower girl dresses?"... probably time to start crossing stuff off the list again! lol

    7. How is your fiancé handling your healthy living changes: He's awesome. He is constantly telling me how fantastic I look. And he's the cook in the relationship and he's been trying really hard to make healthier meals for me for dinner. I just can't seem to get him to start watching what he's eating also. I want us both to look good at the wedding and he needs to stop slacking! We're going to start P90X together in a week or so.

    8. How did you do with the week 3 challenge (adding 10 minutes onto each workout): I did terribly. I really need to up my exercise. Hoping we actually start and stick with P90X.

    9. Weekly wrap up: Well the start of this week has been pretty awful (haha just look at my food diary for Sunday!). I'm ready to make up for it the next few days though and work my butt off! I think I'm going to start by doing 30 Day Shred right now :-P

Hello everyone, I am newly engaged...2 weeks!! And we have a long engagement, 2 yrs to build up money so that we can pay for the wedding our selves and so that I am not too stressed while planning it, along with him doing a deployment in a few months. And of course so that I have a good amount of time to get the healthiest I can. I am so glad I found this board and I look forward to trying to be less stressed this week as the challenge especially as I am starting work again :]

Brides on a Mission: week 4 (Please copy and paste this into your profile)
    1. Weight loss/inches lost this week: IDK, I'm trying to schedule a measurement meeting with my trainer for next week.
    2. Highlight of the past week: (not weight, just something exciting that happened): I tried Zumba for the first time and had a ton of fun. It totally kicked my butt!
    3. Lowlight of the past week (not weight, just something that you need support with): Still down that my best friend since 9th grade can't make it in to be my MOH. I'm figuring out how to help my one remaining gal in the party so that she has help for my bridal shower. (Her husband has terminal cancer, so I don't want her to feel sole responsibility.... yet etiquette says I can't help!)
    4. What is your first dance song and are you taking dance lessons/planning a “special” performance: Ribbon in the Sky - Stevie Wonder (It's one of Dan's favorite songs). We're not taking lessons or doing anything special, just holding each other.
    5. About how many people will be attending your wedding: 142 are on the list, but we're expecting 100, since many are out of town.
    6. Any wedding news updates: Nothing new this week. Hoping to work in invitations again this weekend and pick the cake cutting song within the next day or two.
    7. How is your fiancé handling your healthy living changes: For the most part, we get along. He moved in about six months ago because his own house sold. However, he hates the cat. Last night I ended up sleeping on the couch because he didn't want to let it into the bedroom and it kept clawing at the door. I felt bad for the cat, then bad because he was mad that I left. Sometimes you just can't wait.
    8. How did you do with the week 3 challenge (adding 10 minutes onto each workout): Great. I actually got 5 days of workouts in... exceeded my weekly goal of at least three.
    9. Weekly wrap up: Looking forward to the wedding. 4 months and 24 days to go!:-)
  • 7. How is your fiancé handling your healthy living changes: My FI doesn't handle it well...his middle name is BREAD! lol...

haha that is kind of funny! But you love him anyways, right! lol
