Feel a little disheartened this morning, have been doing so well ( I feel) but last week lost 0.5 lb and this week 0.25 lb  although I appreciate it is still a loss, however total loss since January 2014 is 64 lbs but still have 48 lbs to go to reach goal, so maybe I am hitting that dreaded plateau, any ideas on what I can do guys?

Weightloss is not linear and as you get nearer your goal it will slow down as the defecit will reduce. Plateaus don't really exist they just mean your eating at maintenance and to know you get to that point your weightloss will have stopped for a couple of months. Just carry on with what your doing as its working and if you want to do something just ensure the accuracy of your tracking. Good luck

No you are not hitting a Plateau, a plateau is generally described as 2-3months of not losing. A number of factors could have lead to a lower than expected loss and the main culprit is water rentention.0

Congrats on your loss, excellent job! You're still losing and 1 to 1 half is fantastic. You're not at a plateau, you're at "stall". You could have eaten more than you think, but more than likely, its water retention. Are you exercising? Try mixing it up a bit, that always tosses you off a bit.0

Plateaus do exist, and I've just had a 10 day one, my longest since starting out to lose weight about 10 weeks ago. In that 10 days, nothing changed, be it intake, exercise or deficit. Nor was I strength training just to rule out the possibility that fat had simply been replaced by muscle. In short, the scales didn't move, and it doesn't for a lot of us with great regularity.
From daily weighing I learned the typical pattern of my weight loss, and it certainly isn't linear, but rather drops for 1/ 2/ 3 days, and then plateaus for a while. The plateaus do seem to be becoming longer though I'm finding, as my loss rate decreases. For example, I started out with a deficit that resulted in a loss rate of 2.5/ 3lbs a week, which I then tapered back to 2lbs a week after my body had done with expelling the typical amount of water it does at the start of any weight loss, and more recently I've dialled back my deficit to give me a loss rate of 1.5lbs a week. As I've reduced my deficit in this way, the plateaus seem to have become longer.
So with all that, I would say - if your methods are consistent, in your intake, deficit and exercise, and you're seeing plateaus, don't worry about them, but rather have confidence in your methods. If what you're doing is right, don't let the demons of doubt creep in, as the weight will drop. In fact the worst thing you can do is panic and change things up when there's actually nothing wrong with what you've been doing.
My personal suspicion from my reading, is with plateaus, the culprit may be water retention from elevated cortisol and perhaps the anecdotal 'whoosh' syndrome/ phenomenon.
Edited to add: there do appear to be some methods to help straighten out your weight loss, and its something I'm experimenting right now with, but have only started. As a low-carber, carb refeeds are something I'm dabbling in at the moment, but its really only something I'm fooling around with this last week. I do love that being on top of my weight loss at this point, I am actually at the point where I can experiment a little to understand it more though0 -
I have experience with this! I was stuck between 148-150lbs for 2 months. I was so disgusted because I was eating lower then MFP suggested, working out and still not losing. I started at 170lbs in February of this year, lost 20lbs and hit my plateau. This is what I did to overcome it.......
For 2 -3 weeks I ate how I normally would eat if I was not on a diet (mindfully of course). I ate pizza, fried foods, candy, soda cookies....whatever I had a taste for but I did not exceed my maintenance calories (1930 for me). I did not exercise or step on a scale. I went back to eating healthy after that. I only have about 10lbs to lose so I have a 0.5lb/week goal which gives me 1730 calories to eat. I ate 1500-1700 cals a day. So maybe a week after going back to eating clean, I weighed myself and I was 147lbs. Today I weighed myself and I am 145.5.
Give it a rest for a week or two and then go back to your diet. Do not worry about gaining weight and Do NOT STEP ON THE SCALE Your body is used to your routine and has gotten comfortable. You need to shock it!0 -
