Help!! How do I stop counting calories???

Yes, I'll admit it...

I've been counting calories obsessively for the past year and a half. I feel shackled by this obsession, like it's all I think about. Literally. It's time to stop...

Trouble is, I'm terrified that stopping cold-turkey will cause me to lose all self-control, binge, and gain weight. Is there anyone out there who has had this issue with counting calories, and who successfully exchanged counting for a healthy lifestyle??

    Coming to a website like this probably wont help your situation.

    Maybe start by giving your self permission to track 1 day, and not the next. Go back and forth to develop some comfort level with eating while you are not tracking.

    Do you obsess about other things in your life? If so, you might want to address that. The obsession with counting calories might be a symptom of something like obsessive compulsive personality disorder (which is different than OCD). I have OCPD, and I'm going to obsess about something. At least the calorie counting has a point.
