Can't lose the weight

Hi, wondering if anyone can shed some light on why I am not losing weight. I have lost 3lb in the first couple of weeks but nothing since. I try and keep my calorie intake to around 1000-1200 per day . I am 45 years old, 5ft 2in, and currently weigh 171lbs so need to lose a hell of a lot, and not getting anywhere. I've kept to 3 meals a day including fresh fruit instead of eating crisps, biscuits, bread etc and go to the gym 3-4 times a week. It's so frustrating

How long have you followed your current diet and exercise plan? How did you decide on your calorie goal? Do you weigh everything you eat and drink that has calories? You are probably eating more than you think.
  • Your food diary isn't open, so it's hard to give feedback. But like the above poster said, you're probably consuming more than you think you are. If you don't have a food scale, I recommend investing in one. It makes a huge difference!

Maybe take your measurements and then when you are not losing pounds you can see the inches melting away. I brought my tape measure out this morning and even though I'm not losing a lot of pounds I'm losing a lot of inches.

1000 cal/day is not enough. You should try to eat more. You need to fuel your body appropriately for it to function. How are you exercising? How long have you been eating at that calorie level?
