Insanity recovery week 2/7. Easier today!
0 -
@pauldoxsee Great Job! Recovery week is nice. Enjoy.
Thanks! I struggled a bit learning the moves, but it was definitely easier day 2. The two graphs definitely show progress!0 -
Hi all am new to this site, I have a question, I will be starting my 3rd week of Insanity tomorrow and have given it my all over the first 2 weeks, I am drenched in sweat after every workout, I drink plenty of water during the day/exercise, I drink a Sci-mx ultra whey protein drink in the morning and after Insanity workout, I have stopped snacking and eat more fruit and veg, but I have not lost ANY weight, I am still exactly the same as when I started the program,(I weighed myself 2 weeks ago), my stomach is still the same, my waist is still the same, my chest is still the same, at the moment I feel a little deflated, lots of effort for no gain/loss, I am not going to stop the program, but any reassurance as to what gains and/or losses I WILL get in the coming weeks will be greatly appreciated, this is my first ever exercise program I have done, I weigh 11st 4lb and am 5ft 7" in height, thanks for any advice....
You can't control when and how your body chooses to react to a new program. I look at a bunch of indicators. How do your clothes fit, how do you feel, how are you sleeping, what is your body fat percentage, what is happening with body measurements, what does your spouse think and finally what does the scale say. If you focus on only one or two areas you are selling yourself short. These are life changing programs and you have to change how your mind thinks too! Good luck!0 -
I did Insanity last year but I only made it through the first month. As soon as month 2 started with the hour long workouts I stopped. I was underestimating the amount of energy I was using at work as it was a very active job. As a result I wasn't eating nearly enough calories and just couldn't keep up with the longer workouts. (I was doing 10 hour shifts followed by Insanity on only 1200 calories!)
Now I've got a new job and have found a good balance with my eating and exercise so I'm going to give it another go. I have been doing some of the workouts as part of my usual routine but I haven't been following the actual plan. I now eat between 1500 and 1600 calories a day, and will adjust it if necessary once I start the workouts. Today is day 1 with the fit test
Well done on restarting it! I'm on 1700 calories and although I've only done week one, I seem to have lost 2lb. I'm not expecting that every time, and was really apprehensive eating that many (although the Beach body Calcs had me down for 1900!), but so far it seems to be working - I'll keep you all informed don't worry ;-)
Day 1 of week 2 done today and really pleased that I was able to do almost the whole warm up with out stopping. And I seem to be getting the average heart rate up further as I am not stopping so frequently - so chuffed with that!
Thanks for the replies about exercising on your rest days. I ended up going for a mammoth dog walk as I had over indulged food wise (whoops! - 1700 daily allowance + what I'd earned exercising, and still -14 calories!) but it was worth it, and I am back on track today.
Keep it up!0 -
@pauldoxsee Thanks for the reply I shall start looking at things from all angles lol0

Hi all nice to see so many joining the insanity club
@nicoletteamber saw your progress pics fantastic job!
@108victorian agree with you about the max recovery day absolutely hated every minute of it and really struggled throughout the whole session. I think I did some damage to my left shoulder/upper chest during one of the previous workouts and that made it really painful especially during the low/high plank
@taekwon123 you will be gaining muscle and losing fat, seems most people start seeing weight loss and physical changes during recovery week and month 2. Just don't give up!
Day 40 for me done! Keep pushing play ya'll0 -

Hi everyone!
I have Insanity but I'm not starting it yet as I am going to start off slow with Hip Hop Abs first.
I cannot wait to kick this off tonight and I reeeeally hope I can stick to it!
xx0 -
Minx, the key to sticking to a program is simply following exercise directions to the best of your ability, check off the workouts on the workout calendar, commit to a peer group and post your workout results daily and follow diet guides as well as workout guides as diet is as important as exercise to getting results. Do the photos and body measurements too as your progress may come slowly or in spurts and these baseline things help you see the changes the scale might not be showing you. Good luck!0

Completed insanity recovery 3/7
what program is this?0 -
The graph is from the Polar Beat app, the numbers come from the Polar H7 monitor. This is a chest strap device, but I have been happy with it. I used to use the Scotsche Rhythm wrist monitor which worked okay, but was kind of a pain to recharge all the time.0

Pure Cardio work out done! :-)0

Pure Cardio work out done! :-)
Yay RevGil! I'm fighting a cold today and have Advil working in my system. I hope to get this behind me before I start Month2. It didn't seem to hurt my workout much this morning other than make it slightly harder to press play. How far did you walk with your dog? I take my two on 3.5 mile loops usually.0 -
Completed insanity recovery 4/7. It was only a 4 Kleenex day, my cold must be getting better!
0 -
Well done on exercising through it Paul! Very impressed! And I like the idea of a 'x Kleenex day' ;-)
I think I am coming down with a cold - either that, or I really missed the lack of Smartex Recovery formula yesterday. I was really drained afterwards, even though I ate lunch immediately afterwards (hence no recovery shake), and am prevaricating rather than getting on with it now... ;-)
I walked 3 odd miles. I tend to do just shorter walks with my dog as he has dodgy legs and is prone to injuring them when getting over excited - which means no exercise at all for a week while he recovers then short lead walks around the block for the next week - boring for him and us! So we've found a compromise - lots of sniffing around the garden (1/2 acre) at various points in the day, and a 1/2 hour walk (2 miles ish) a day. He's happy enough with that and (touch wood) he's not injured himself too badly recently...
Right! Enough already... Decide - Commit - Suceed! See you on the other side of 'Play'!0 -
Pylo Cardio circuit done... #knackered!0

Hey I'm new on here (I've used MFP to track my food for ages just never been on here) I've just finished month 1 of insanity, I'm now on day 2 of recovery week and needing some motivation, I took my 30 day progress pics and I'm not sure if it's just me but I can't see much of a difference. Thought I'd post them on here and see what you guys think

Started and finished on the first tried. Then quit mfp for 2 years. Tried to do Insanity alone but failed many times due to lack of accountability. Gained 10 lbs since then. Figure that better fix it now when it is still easy. Please add me as your friend. I know Insanity really well to give advise. In return, I need your motivation and encouragement.
Thank you,0 -
Yay RevGil did it again!
Jlwyatt -- yep there are visible changes! Get a simple tape measure and track, chest, hips, waist, thighs and arms(bicips) and write down the measurements. It's easier to spot changes in the measurements if you take them every week it two. I track body fat changes too in addition to how my clothes fit and how I feel (and what my wife says!).
Akaporn -- commit to posting what you do everyday. If you feel you are accountable to someone it keeps you going. I find that people who stop posting daily tend to also stop working out daily.
For the record I am NOT a Beachbody coach and don't want to be one or sell anyone anything. I have completed p90x/2/3, t25 Body Beast and am now working on insanity. I lost 60 pounds with these programs, and subsequently added back 9 pounds of muscle by design. My doctors took me off of blood pressure and cholesterol medicine AND the CPAP machine when sleep apnea went away. I simply believe that fitness and diet work with good programs, deligent adherence and good support.0 -
@jlwyatt93 I can certainly see differences, my changes noticeable to me came during the recovery werk and throughout month 2 so make sure you keep pressing play and don't give up.
Today is a rest day for me (day 42) I cannot believe I only have 3 weeks to go :drinker:
Keep going everyone really helps me to see others going through this.0 -
Hi Everyone!
I just started Insanity last Thursday - can't wait for my Plyo Cardio Circuit after work today! I'm really liking the program but some before & after pictures would be some great inspiration. My beginning weight was 150 lbs, looking to lose some inches in time for my vacation in 4 weeks and I'll continue with Insanity while on vacation and afterwards. I'm eating around 1600-1700 calories/day and my energy levels seem pretty good, especially when I get close to 8 hours of sleep.
Add me as a friend if anyone is in the same boat
Jenn
PS - I would really like to get the Polar Heart Rate monitor - looking at either the Loop or FT4 - any suggestions or comments?0 -
Wjelly, I'm having a similar experience. Not much change in month 1, but in the last week of month 1 and into recovery week body fat has started to melt off each day.0
-
Jennifer, I pick the Loop between those two. It syncs to the Polar Flow app and gives you graphing and history..0
-
I totally agree with pauldox and wjelly, month 1 no phenotypic changes, then recovery week....my body finally realized that I meant business. It is slowly going though, no miracles, just hard work and a healthier body (and mind) each day I push play.
Just for the record, I don't care if it takes me 3 consecutive rounds; I WILL CONQUER LEVEL 3 DRILLS!0 -
Jennifer, I pick the Loop between those two. It syncs to the Polar Flow app and gives you graphing and history..
Thanks for the feedback!0 -
Completed insanity recovery 5/7. Only 2 kleenexes today!

definitely lost some inches!0 -
Welcome Newbies! (She says from the grand perspective of being in week 2 of month 1!)
I've done the recovery circuit today - and at least I was expecting the pulses this time - but MAN that's hard! So much for 'recovery'!
Am happy to be friended by anyone who wants an accountability partner - or we can keep each other on track on here...
Only a two kleenex day Paul? Yea!0 -
Oh, and there are Definately inches off there girl! You rock!0
-
Oops, I just looked at the insanity calendar and realized there are ONLY 6 core cardio & balance workouts this week. This means I am on workout 5/6, with me doing yoga on my rest day. That actually makes more sense to me.
Congrats on another successful workout RevGil! Anyone else push play today?0
