Do you log condiments?

I log high calorie condiments like Mayo or Ranch or high salt like soy sauce, but not things like Relish, Mustard, Ketchup.
So what do you guys do?

i log condiments, even when it's only a teaspoon or so. the only things i don't log are spices because they don't have enough caloric value to register.

Same as you if it was mayo, butter, or honey I would log it but I do not log ketchup. Those are just about the only condiments I use. Maybe BBQ sauce too.

I log Mayo's not ketchup type sauce. When I've measured Mayo my usual squeeze is 100cals. Need to cut it back.

if I bite it, I write it! I avoid using condiments as much as possible as to me they are wasted calories.

    Everything but spices. :)
  • You'd better log ketchup.http://imgur.com/9hGH8bQ

Average bottle of Heinz ketchup. 1 Tablespoon (which is about what youd put on a burger, for fries youd maybe have 2-3 tbsp to dip into, for meatloaf, anywhere from 2-6 tbsp) has 15 Calories, 8% of your DV Sodium, and FOUR GRAMS of carbs (via HFCS), which can play a huge role in your diet if you're tracking macros.

    Log everything!

Mayonnaise, peanut sauce, anything with significant calories. I use low/no sugar ketchup, so don't bother logging that, or mustard.

I looked up the condiments that I keep regularly stocked in my fridge, to see what their caloric values were. So I know that I should definitely be logging things like mayo, ketchup, honey mustard, but for things like yellow mustard, that are around 1 calorie per swipe, I don't bother.

I do for ketchup and mustard, but only because I keep track of my sodium as well.

No, my wife and I don’t like condiments. ;-)

Actually I try and log “EVERYTHING” that I consume, even my tea without anything in it, dry herbs and spices, doesn’t matter what it is I log it. You’d be surprised at how it adds up.

If it has fat and/or sugar content and is over 25 calories, then I do log it. Mayo, sour cream, creamy salad dressings, sauces - yes, Salsa, mustard, pickles - no ... I don't worry too much about sodium as I never add salt to anything and the only sodium I get is from food and I rarely go even halfway to reaching my sodium daily allowance.

I log everything. Even the lower calorie ones can add up

Since I plan my meals with very little wiggle room, I have to log everything but spices. A TBSP of ketchup could take my numbers from black to red at this point.

Now, when I first started, I didn't have too. I always had a bunch of calories left over in the day. Now that I have lost some weight and expect higher numbers, I have to be more strict about it.

I log what seems material. Usually mayo, not mustard. I estimate salad dressing. There isn't much ketchup in my life, so I don't worry about it. There's more sriracha, but I don't track that either.

There's naturally a lot of rounding and estimation in logging both intake and exercise, so I try not to fool myself into seeing precision where it doesn't exist.

Hubby logs all condiments and salt/pepper/spices. Not for calorie purposes, but to track nutritional intake, making sure he's not abnormally high or glaringly deficient in one or more particular vitamins/minerals, etc....

Never used to, but now I do. Also, I don't know what relish you buy but mine is always extremely high in sugar and calories when I do have it…

I pretty much log in everything (including ketchup). I try to watch my sodium levels with condiments, especially.

If it has calories, I log it.

Except dry spices, I don't even usually measure those, except by eye.

I log ketchup, bbq sauce, mayo, salad dressings, chutney, peanut sauce and anything with more than a few calories.

When I create recipes, I log everything but spices.

When I'm just adding some relish or a splash of soy sauce to something, I don't bother logging it.

Part of the reason for me is that my calories are set really low, so I feel that I have a little wiggle room.
  • I log everything except dry spices. I even log 10 calorie a tsp hot sauce. It all adds up. BTW, ketchup can be a total calorie bomb.

For high-calorie condiments or those that I know I tend to over-use (oh how I love Miracle Whip!!) I definitely do. For stuff like mustard, I rarely bother. But I know that I probably should, since sodium is lurking in so many add-ons and I'm trying to keep all my numbers green. Ketchup isn't much of a problem for me these days since I normally use it only on fries, and those are pretty much off my radar at the moment.

I am like the other person who said they log everything but dry spices... condiments can easily add up to a hundred calories especially ketchup that has alot of sugar in it and i tend to drown things in ketchup so yeah I log them all to me it is those hidden calories that kill me

Yes, but not spices or vinegar

Most condiments are high in sugars, salt or fat.

LOG EVERYTHING!! Ketchup is my all time favorite one but the sodium is ridiculous and throws off my numbers. If you aren't logging these, you are doing a disservice to the work you're doing.

Yes, because I watch my sodium.
