I'm 5' 9.5", 217, and I stay at or near 1380 calories a day.0

5'10" 228
Eating less than 1200 a day.
I found not exercising now, is better. Before, I was constantly at the gym, and constantly starving hungry. When I was doing the cross fit training, I really did not lose much, I was toned and in good shape....but not losing weight.0 -
Hey, I'm 5'9" and weighing about 216 right now, I usually hover around the 1400 cal (+/- 100) mark even though I have a 1700 cal limit for my weight losing goal of 1 pound per week.0

hmm okay cool I am at 1420 right now and I always felt like it was too much but I am still losing consistently so that's all that matters really haha. thanks for your input everyone!0

6'0....aim for 1500 cals/day0

I'm at 269 and 5'9" and I'm at 1480. I can't wait to be 230!0

I started at 239 at 1200 calories. I am 5 foot 10. 207 now and still 1200 calories.0

you will get there!!! my starting weight was 2710 -
I'm on the other side of things. I'm 5'9" and started at 195lbs. Lost my first 25lbs in 3 months eating ~1500/day, now I'm at 165 and have upped my calories to ~1700 and I'm still losing. As long as you are logging very accurately (weighing solids and measuring liquids) don't be afraid of higher calories! Us tall gals need more nutrition0

that is awesome!! congrats on your successes so far! now i definitely wont feel as bad if i go over my calories a little0 -
I'm 5'10" and 232 (down from 253) and I've been pretty consistently eating between 1800-2000/day, which seems quite a bit higher than the rest of you who've posted here. But I *think* it's working, I feel healthy and now that I recently upped my activity level, I'm losing gradually . . .0

5'9" and 99kg (219), eat about 1500 per day. Started at 141kg (310) two years ago and have had to gradually decrease and become MUCH more consistent than I was, which sucks the big one.
Damn you autocorrect!0 -
I'm 5'9", 237lbs, 1500 cal per day. Some days I eat more - up to 1800 - because I'm cranky and starving and I need it.
I'm aiming for lifestyle change, not fast weight loss. Losing 7-8lbs per month.0 -
That's where I started a while back and I usually ate 1400-1600 net depending on whether I was trying to fuel a heavy workout or not (I do martial arts). Some days I'd just say "stuffit" and eat maintenance because I really wanted the extra energy that day.
My personal viewpoint was that each maintenance day would only delay reaching my goal by 1 day, so I took them when I felt like I needed them. I just tried not to go above maintenance.0 -
I'm 5'9" or 5'10" depending on when I'm measured,
220 lb this morning,
and aiming for 1600 - 1650 cal per day (don't eat back exercise calories) because my healthy goal weight is 165 & my doctor & dietician told me to eat 10x my healthy goal weight in calories.
165 is at the top end of a healthy weight range based on BMI, so when I get there I'll see how I feel. Might want to lose a little more, maybe down to 150, might not. Don't know yet.
I've been pretty consistently losing 7 lb per month on average. Some months as much as 10, some months less (which is frustrating).
The people saying they're eating 1200 or less are either not measuring accurately or are doing very bad things to their bodies.0 -
i'm 5'10" and i started out weighing around 225lbs.. when i first started i was eating 1600 cal/day when i did not exercise and 1800 cal/day when i did exercise. eventually i was eating 1800 cal/day on non-exercise days and 2,000 cal/day on exercise days. 1200 cal/day is WAY too low since i read some of you said you're eating around that per day.
ETA: i now follow IIFYM and eat roughly 1950 cal/day0 -

that's a really cool way to calculate- 10x your healthy weight! congrats on all your successes so far everyone! and yes I agree. I thought I was eating 1200 at one point but I definitely wasn't accurately measuring lol0 -
5'9 now at 202lbs. Started at 218lbs. I eat 1500-1700 cals per day and do weight lifting 30mins 3 times a week and have lost an average of 2 pounds per week.0

5'10 and currently 230lbs. My calories vary according to my exercises, which are a mix of strength training with some cardio and how I feel on the day. Generally I do TDEE -20% so intake can be anything from 1500 - 2000+.
I want to lose the fat and keep the muscle and hope that by doing strength training I can reach my goal sooner by changing my body shape/composition so I might be happier at a slightly heavier weight providing the tape measure and body fat % are good.
I wonder what all these people on 1200 or less cals are going to do as they lose weight and have to drop their intake? :huh:0 -
I'm about 5'9.5", and was around 230 at my heaviest (though I was very pregnant at the time, lol). When I started here 3 months ago I was about 200, and am down about 20 lbs so far. I usually eat about 1500-1700 calories a day, and my TDEE is a bit over 2000.0
