My mom always said, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!"
  • You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great

You cannot climb the ladder of success dressed in the costume of failure.

The first step in solving a problem is to recognize that it does exist.

The right quote can inspire people to change their ways.

Remember that failure is an event, not a person.

"Your body isn't giving up, your head is." Repeat that to myself frequently at the gym.

"I will not starve for this, but I will work hard for this. It may take longer doing it the healthy and right way, but it will last longer this way. It will be better. And I will be happy. Happy and beautiful."

And just for fun, "Let them eat cake, as long as it fits their macros!"

    A few of my faves:

"Why do you need to be strong? So I can protect those who are weak." ~ I don't the origin but I remember Neil Kinnock saying it eons ago and it has stuck with me.

"Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today" ~ Malcolm X

"It's out there...get up and take it!" ~ My Mum

    As seen elsewhere...

The only worthwhile religion is fitness.

If I worship at the temple of swift feet for thirty minutes a day, then I invariably become faster and more robust.
If I worship at the temple of heavy movements for an hour a day, then I invariably become stronger and more powerful.
If I worship at the temple of moderate consumption all day, then I invariably become leaner and healthier.
If I worship at all three of these temples on a regular basis, my form becomes as beautiful as that of the gods.

The gods that occupy these temples confer tangible and demonstrable benefits to those who pursue them.

No other religion can claim this.

I have two that I have used on this weight loss - exercise journey:

I will beat her, I will train harder, I will eat cleaner, I know her weaknesses, I know her strengths. I've lost to her before, but not this time, she is going down. I have the advantage because I know her well, she is the old ME.

The more I run, the more I love my body. Not because it is perfect, far from it, but because with every mile it is proving to me that I am capable of more than I ever thought possible.

It's just me against the world.

    It wouldn't be fair otherwise.

    You can't outrun your fork.

This time next year, you'll wish you started today.

A goal without a plan is just a wish.

A tiger doesnt lose sleep over the opinion of sheep.

You dont fling yourself down the flight of stairs just because you trip on the top step (i.e. "I already screwed up my diet this morning, may as well eat what I want the rest of the day... hell may as well start over on Monday now..." - NO, move on immediately!)

The question isnt who is going to let me, its who is going to stop me.

Tell the negative committee that meets inside your head to sit down and shut up.

Stop letting people who do so little for you control so much of your mind, feelings and emotions.

If we all threw our problems into a pile and saw everyone else's we'd grab ours back.

The best ab exercise is 5 sets of stop eating so much crap.

I love sleep because its like a time machine to breakfast :)

On particularly rough days when I'm sure I cant possibly endure, I like to remind myself that my track record for getting through bad days so far is 100%, and that's pretty good.

  • "Never give up. Never surrender!" ~ "Galaxy Quest"

"Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway." ~ Earl Nightingale

Ok. so a lot of you have super awesome sources for your quotes. One of my favorites is actually a Lorde song lyric from her song Glory and Gore. It's "You can try and take us, but victory's contagious."

So true! A win in any part of your life tends to duplicate in others. Just get something good going and it continues with the right attitude!

It took more than a day to put it on. It will take more than a day to take it off.

    Sweat is FAT crying

Today I will: work out and get stronger; nourish my body with healthy foods; get one step closer to achieving my goals; take a moment to appreciate my life; start planning for tomorrow

    "I must not fear.
    Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing....only I will remain"

    -Litany Against Fear, Dune

ETA: Maybe I missed the point, but I love this, especially when facing irrational fears related to weight loss, like fearing I'll miss out on beer... or candy... or pizza and chips and 6-foot sub sandwiches and buffalo wings...

My favorite: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take- but by the number of moments that take our breath away.
