  • It's fine. Probably not a good idea if you're going on a long run or walk and it makes you have to use the bathroom though.
  • Doesn't matter. Although I don't usually drink coffee before a hard run/ workout because it tends to cause tummy issues. Especially bad if I have milk in the coffee.

A lot of runners use gels/ gummies which contain caffeine.

ETA: mark beat me to it :)

How do you feel when you have coffee before working out?

If it doesn't impact you negatively you're fine. I would not even consider not having at least 1 cup in the morning before I work out.

    Research suggests that it's beneficial

It depends on how much/how that much affects you; it isn't inherently good or bad.

It's the whole point of a pre-workout supp. Personally, I always drink coffee before I go to the gym.

I pour a cup right before I workout in the morning and drink it during my workout. 5am workouts would not happen without coffee.

  • It's a must-have for me. I have 1-2 scoops of C4 preworkout before starting my workout and it really takes my workout to the next level. It also makes the workout more enjoyable and less of a tired drag.

Sometimes before. Sometime after. Sometimes both.

Can't say that I have ever really noticed a difference.

I took Pulse V4 for a while, but while it was awesome for the workout (caffeine and creatine in one mix) I found it caused me to crash HARD a few hours later. I'd need a nap, and if I had one I wouldn't sleep, while if I didn't have one I'd feel crap for a few hours.

Now I'm taking Shred X Rippedcore (partially due to the fact that I'm having to eat more) and they have a ton of caffeine in them anyway, so It's usually that a couple hours before, and creatine right beforehand. I find it works out pretty well, but then again I'm focussing more on resistance than cardio at the moment.

It completely depends on how YOU feel. Have you tried drinking before working out? How'd YOU feel? Cuz imagine people tell you yes it's ok (I didn't read the comments here) and you end up not feeling good and get sick...

Personally, I don't notice a difference... I'm drinking water while I workout anyways.

Well, I made it through 43 years of life before I started drinking coffee. I started for one reason only - to have prior to heavy cardio days (two or three times per week). So far, this has worked for me as I haven't had any tolerance build-up and I've been doing this for the past year. I hate treadmill and when I really got serious about getting leaner, the coffee (one cup) got me up and at 'em and rarin' to get it done. Sometimes I think I'd like to have it every day, but no...not going to. Don't really like the taste, so zip it up a bit with a squirt of liquid Stevia and sugar-free caramel latte powder (1 tsp). Would rather have a bag of Reese's mini's to start it off with, but again....not going to. *sigh*
