Will Paleo help?Only lost 3.5 pounds in over a month

I'm 48 and have religiously followed my 1200 a day calories and burn about 300 calories a day on the treadmill. I've been at a stand still and get annoyed when I log in my food and it says: If you eat like this, you will be _____ lbs in 5 weeks. Well that was 5 weeks ago, and I'm not loosing weight. Some days I eat the extra 300 calories and this past week, I've not, in trying to get the scale to budge. The last two days, I did no treadmill and had 700 calories one day and 1000 the next, and I've finally dropped 1.5 pounds.

So, folks I'm frustrated and fat and still look pregnant even though I'm not...tried the fitbit for steps but that was stupid and I sleep just fine so my next resort is the Paleo, but I worry it's really not good for one's kidney's over time.

I'm looking for a jump start and throught Paleo would help...anyone have any success with this? If not, any other jump starts?

Thanks!!

3.5 lbs in a month is a good rate of loss. If your goal is fat loss, taking weight slower will ensure you retain muscle in a deficit. I wouldn't change anything but definitely eat your exercise. Do you weigh foods on a food scale and measure liquids? Also, 1.5 lbs in a two day span isn't enough to say if it's just water weight. Don't starve yourself but you don't have to do fad diets. Unless you find you like that particular way of eating. Do something for forever.

Irregardless, it will always be calories in vs out

3.5 pounds in a month is about right if you're looking to lose a pound a week. I am a slow loser too, it's taken me 5 months to lose about 20 pounds. I don't think any one certain type of eating (clean, paleo, iifym, etc) is the answer to weight loss. It's all about calories in versus calories out. I noticed when I ate 1200 calories a day and walked 3 miles a day that I lost quicker. I've slacked off this summer and the scale has slowed way down. Maybe you're not eating enough, or drinking enough water?
  • Sorry to bump an old post, but I wanted to let you know that I have lost 22 lbs since June by doing Paleo. That rate is 5.5 lbs. per month. So far so good. How have you been doing the last month on the paleo?

I seriously doubt you're eating enough food. You should not be following the suggested 1200 calories that MFP suggests.
