When do you eat breakfast?

My schedule recently changed, and I find myself getting up at 6am, but often not going to bed til 8. I am forcing myself to wait until 8 am to eat breakfast otherwise I am hungrier through the day. Anyone else do this? Is it practical??

If it works for you, do it. I get up around 5:15. If I'm going to exercise, I'll eat a banana or a yogurt then. If not, I'll have breakfast at 7:15. Sometimes, like today, I spread my breakfast out over a few hours. I had a banana at 5:30. Yogurt at 6:45. Coffee and scone at 8:30. I have an apple waiting to be eaten still. If being hungry later in the day is a problem for you, you might want to spread out your eating a bit. Maybe save something from lunch to eat mid-afternoon.

According to your diary, you eat about 2000 kcal per day right? If you'd like to eat something when waking up, spread out your calories a bit more.
On the other hand, I don't think it is "bad" or "unhealthy" to wait 2 hours with eating breakfast.
I tend to fast some days till lunch (about 14 hours or so).

It varies every day, depending on my work/school schedule. Today was 9:30 because I have class at 12. Tomorrow I have to be at work at 7, so I'll eat a protein bar when I wake up and something more substantial at 11 when I get my lunch break.

I usually don't eat until about an hour after I wake up (I usually end up eating around 8:30 to 8:45). I get up, drink ice cold water to get me going, and eat when I feel like I have the energy to make something. If I have to wake up earlier for whatever reason, I try not to eat as many calories first thing so I can eat again a couple hours later so I don't have the "I just can't make it until lunch" hunger.

I make a protein drink once I'm ready for the day (so about 45 minutes after I wake up and have showered/dressed) which is around 715am and then I eat my actual breakfast around 10am, lunch at 1215, snack around 230, protein bar around 5pm if I'm not going straight home and dinner around 8pm. This works best in my schedule and keeps me eating approximately every 3hrs to spread out the calories over the day. I actually eat the smallest amount at dinner because for me "dinner" is later than when I want to be eating heavy. Do whatever works for you, everyone is different.

I get up between 5.30am-7.15am (depends if it's morning training day). If I go to the gym in the morning I will have a post workout shake. My first meal of the day is generally anytime between 11am-1.30pm. Some days I don't eat 'breakfast' at all and just wait til lunch

I used to eat breakfast as soon as I got up which was around 630-645 because I was so hungry when I woke up but now I wait until 830. the time difference helps a bit from keeping the hunger pangs away

I often wait to have breakfast, too. I usually have my coffee first, then a few hours later I have breakfast. Unless, like today, I wake up super hungry then I just eat earlier. I love the idea of spreading out meals like other's have suggested. You could eat half of what you were planning, and then the other half later.

I'm usually famished when I wake. I have a cup of warm water with lemon juice first, then a protein smoothie. A couple hours later I'll have some fruit.

For the most part I don't eat it. I just have coffee and then eat around 12 or 1 pm. There are some days however where I am hungry, like today. I am actually eating my lunch right now. Its around 11 am. Usually my coffee does hold me over until lunch.

My mother has been getting on me cause I am weak, exhausted and get headaches by afternoon. She thinks it is because I need to eat breakfast, so I am going to start and see if it makes a difference.

Whatever works for you, there's no set rule.

I have breakfast after my workout. So maybe 1-2 hours after waking up. If it's a busy day maybe 3-4 hours after waking but not any longer than that or I'll likely chew my arm off.

I usually wake up at around 4:50-5:05am. I tend to grab a boiled egg at 5.30am and then I drink my smoothie between 7-8am. I do usually grab a snack around 10am since my lunch is at 1pm.

It should be whatever works for you, it might take some time to adjust to figure out what your body needs.
  • Whatever works for you is practical. For me I eat as soon as I wake up, because I'm hungry as soon as I wake up. I just make sure to eat something high in protein, that tends to keep me full all the way to lunch.

If not it's fine, I'll just eat a protein rich snack too if I need it.

Sure, if it works for you. Just try it and see. I get up at 5 or 5:30 and tend to eat breakfast between 6:30 and 7. If I run in the morning I may not eat until 7:30 (I don't eat breakfast before I run). On the weekends I'm always up for at least 2 hours before I eat.

    Whatever works best for you!

I personally lift in the morning with nothing but a granola bar in my stomach (within an hour of waking up) - then eat more substantial food after my workout (4+ hours after I wake up)

During the work week I get up at 6 am. I just can't bring myself to eat immediately after waking, so I drink a glass of milk before leaving for work, snicky-snack on something during the long commute to work, and then have breakfast at work around 8 am.

I find if I eat breakfast right when I wake up it makes me sick so I usually wait an hour or so later on my work days. On the weekend I just drink coffee and have breakfast/lunch around noon. Depending on what I eat does sometimes make me hungry before lunch but if I have a homemade egg mcmuffin or a smoothie I'm usually good til lunch. I would say just eat when you are hungry or try some different times and see what works best for you.

I am usually up around 6:10am on weekdays and the weekend varies, but either way I don't usually eat (Other than coffee) until 11am at the earliest. This is what my body naturally wants to do (even as a teenager, I didn't eat breakfast).

I get up at 5:30 and generally eat breakfast around 11-12, unless I'm just extremely hungry. Then I eat whenever i get hungry.

I get up at 3:30 and don't eat until 8 and sometimes run 8 miles in between. Works just fine for me. But I also go to bed around 9 or 9:30 and eat right before then so that helps.

I normally wake up at 6, workout, and then have a green fruit protein smoothie at 8:30am. Then I'll have a snack around 11am. I think you'll just have to find what works for you. I personally cannot skip breakfast, my body is too used to it.

Well, I exercise at 6:30 and get to work at 8. Regardless of whether I exercise or not, I eat at my desk while looking at the morning email. If you stick to the same time to eat for a week or two, it will become a habit. If it works to keep you less hungry, you've got a good habit.

I'm up for work at 5:45am. I get to work at 7am and have a cup of tea or coffee. I don't actually eat until 9 or 9:30.
