Think of it this way. You lost weight before, right? A solid 15 lbs. You can do it again!

I think you should really try - give a true effort to losing weight again using a method that doesn't involve surgery. You can always decide later (like in half a year or something) about liposuction or other methods.

If all goes well, maybe you'll feel better too!

And keep in mind weight loss can be achieved through diet alone (you can introduce exercise later when you feel more up for it).

Just my opinion, since surgery is really a big deal. Good luck!

Try on losing w/o surgery again... you did it once, you can do it again. It's really a pity to go through an unnecessary surgery if it can be avoided. I mean... too expensive and a certain amount of pain you can certainly avoid.

I think liposuction only removes small amounts of stubborn fat.

No, you should not. Liposuction is not a magical cure for your body image problems and it sounds like you feel it will help you land a job and get married.

Lipo suction isn't the proper surgery for this situation anyway. You'd be a better candidate for the lap band or something similar. But honestly, you don't need any surgery. All you need is to eat less calories and you'll lose weight. There's tons of people here that started out much larger then you, and have successfully lost the weight. You can do it!!!!!.get yourself a food scale and start weighing and measuring and logging your foods. :-)

No. I think you'll ultimately feel like you cheated, which is how I would feel. Also, because you didn't earn it, you'll probably gain it back. Lose the weight yourself, because it's doable and it's an exercise in will power. You will feel so much better about yourself after you've earned it.

Suck it up and get after it! If you want to fewer back problems and to jump this perceived job / marriage hurdle, then get off your butt and lift some weights. You don't have to do cardio to lose weight. Heck, you don't necessarily have to exercise to lose weight. Just eat at a deficit.

You are not a good candidate for this surgery. Only small amounts of fat are removed overall, and if too much is attempted, the patient can bleed to death.

It's not something to be taken lightly.

Liposuction can only remove small amounts of fat that are subcutaneous (just under the skin). It can't do anything about the fat that is spread throughout your body and, at "140 kg / 280 lbs" is likely surrounding your organs. Your wisest move is to make sure you are eating a healthy, well balanced diet and to seek counseling for your issues related to a job and marriage.

I weigh about what you do so I know it is a hard problem to deal with but the only way to do it is through healthy eating and increasing activity. I also have worked for many years on my issues related to depression through therapy and medication. Ask your doctor for a referral to a counselor and learn about healthy eating.

Lipo is probably not a good idea if your weight fluctuates that much. It completely removes the fat cells so when you gain or lose, it can end up looking pretty weird.

I consulted with a Doctor regarding liposuction. He said only Pluto would have enough vacuum.

Lipo DOESN'T address eating/consumption issues which is how people get overweight/obese in the first place. And lipo is best IMO, when one has gotten down as much as they can with diet and exercise and that last bit that won't go, gets lipoed.

Lipo wouldn't help you any. If you don't have enough discipline to fix your eating habits on your own than nothing is going to help you.

I just read something on this topic. Lipo is very dangerous for people who are very overweight or who tend to regain. It removes fat cells from the places they're least harmful (under the skin), so when you regain weight, you'll put it on in very dangerous places, like around the organs.

my friend had it done and didn't tell anyone. she did it for herself to get rid of a little fat under her breast area (was prepping for breast reduction surgery) no one could tell, she did it only for herself and only told me years after she had it done. if you are hoping for big results, you might re-think it. go seek counseling - a good surgeon should require it before undergoing something so serious. good luck:smile:
