<Okay am obviously not an alcoholic!! >

I'm not inferring anything but all drinking alcoholics say this lol
Are you an alcoholic? By the logic above, any answer given should be read as 'yes.'

I am still confused as to why anyone would be borderline insulted because she used the words 'alcohol' and 'problem'

It's touchy. Brits and Americans view drinking - and what a drinking "problem" is - quite differently.

I'm Irish. ;-) My confusion is in relation to people being annoyed that they came to the thread to find the OP didn't have a real drinking problem. Seems a bit ridiculous to me. :-D

I'm 5'10" and one makes me tipsy and I am definitely feeling two.

The less you drink the cheaper drunk you are. This is a GOOD thing.

(And yes, I know that was your point, OP :)

Okay am obviously not an alcoholic!! But I seriously have become a cheep date!! 3 large pinots and I feel very drunk!! What the hell is wrong with me!! Obviously used to be able to drink far more than I can now!! Do I need more practice maybe?!!

As far as I know age, body weight both effect tolerance. Also the less you drink the less you are able to drink(prob not a bad thing)

Hmm...a dumb non-question posted to a forum devoted to maintaining weight, yet has nothing at all to do with maintaining weight.

Welcome to my Ignore list, OP.

My thoughts exactly, people these days. Whine, whine, whine. Also, seriosuly OP? Google is so much better for this than a forum.

You're going to have a long, long, ignore list.

And fwiw, the fellow whinging about the "non-question" was more the whiner than the OP.

Hi newmeadow, I'm still of the opinion that if you click on a link expecting to find someone with a drinking problem and then feel insulted/annoyed/duped etc. then you are very easily bothered by very menial things.

The OP got drunk and made a silly post. Simple as that. Nothing for anyone to take seriously or get upset about, I reckon. But then it takes really serious stuff to get me riled up. If that wasn't the case I'd avoid internet forums like the plague. :-D

OP: Have you ever measured 1 serving of wine? In the US that's 5 oz of wine. I measure it now. I pour 5 oz of water into a wine glass and mark where that is and fill only to that line. A "large" glass of wine could be 6 oz. It could be 10 oz (that would actually be 2 glasses). An entire bottle of wine is 25.368, so 5 glasses of wine. If you are only getting "4 large glasses" out of a bottle of wine, each of those glasses is likely to be around 6 oz.

Yeah, this isn't a shocking amount to me either. Of course, it depends on what constitutes a "sitting".

If I come home from work and have a glass of wine while checking mail, changing, etc that can be an hour. Then, a glass of wine while I'm cooking (45 mins - an hour). One more with my meal (30 mins). And, if I'm feeling frisky, a small one with a movie downstairs after...that's about 3/4 of a bottle in 2.5-4.5 hours. Or, a drink an hour. That's not bad.

People forget that most wine drinkers who don't have a problem drink wine slowly. If I get home at 6 and go to bed at 10:00 - 10:30 it's not that outrageous.
