I made my person version of the Scout Law.

    "I am
A Family Man, Steadfast, Faithful, Athletic, Diligent, Effective, Neighborly, Creative, A Volunteer, Empowering, Happy, Adventurous, Humble, Inspiring, Liberty Minded and Filled with Charity."

I invite all to make your own personal Scout Law. it took hours of soul searching over about a month to have a statement I could say in one breath.

"Treat a man as he is and he will remain that man. Treat a man as he can become and he will become that man." Goetthe

My personal Scout Law is treating myself as man I am to be. I am already part of that man, someday I will embody these traits the way I envision, not stumbling.

Thanks for the motivating thoughts, I will continue to stumble along until the perfect day when I am the man described above.

A lot of great sayings! Great thread:)

I saw a film recently talking about emotional eating: "I accept myself unconditionally, right now."

Also made up one of my own, inspired by this thread:

“Ignorance fuels stagnation. Courage and curiosity fuels evolution.”

  • This is my little saying, a speech I give myself when I'm tempted by food:

"I'm not going to have missed this junk food tomorrow, though I may regret it if I eat it today. "
  • "It is never too late to be what you might have been." - George Eliot

I really needed that one. Not for food but for other matters. Thanks for the post.

I have a few posted on my wall, but the one I use when running is "slow and steady wins the race."

This may not motivate me to eat better or work out but it definitely motivates me to give people the benefit of the doubt in all situations.

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
