Question about exercising and calorie intake

I've been watching my calories since Friday the 21nd and I've lost 6 lbs from Friday until Tuesday, and now I'm at a stand still. I have been under my calories all week long, and I've exercised at least 3 days a week, and I haven't dropped any more weight. Should I be?
Am I doing something wrong since I'm not meeting my calories?
I don't want to go into starvation mode, but I am not hungry throughout the day. I dont want to be doing something that is going to be messing up my progress. Please any advice would be appreciated.

    1) you should be close to your calorie goal

    2) Do you mean the 21st of JANUARY? How fast are you expecting to lose this weight, cuz honey, 6 lbs in a week is VERY fast. Not crazy for your first week as your body is likely dropping a lot of water weight, but going forward, from FRIDAY to FRIDAY, you should get used to the idea of 1 lb at a time coming off.

6 pounds is a LOT of weight in a week. Probably most of it is water. Now your body is trying to reach an equilibrium. Drink lots of fluids, allow your body to replenish its stores, and eat at least 1200 cals a day. If you're having trouble reaching that, drink your calories (milk, soymilk, smoothies, protein shakes, etc.).
Also, consider exercising more than 3 times a week. If you're just starting, that's good, but your body will adjust quickly.
Also, don't weigh yourself too much (once a week is good). Weight fluctuates a lot on a daily basis.
  • Congratulations on the first 6lbs! That's an excellent weight loss for the first week as depending how much weight you have to lose, more of it will come off in the beginning, partly due to water weight, as mentioned above. But from here on, you should be seeing only a 1-2 lb loss per week for sustained weight loss. Making sure to eat all your calories in a diet rich with whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins and sticking with exercising as much as you are will keep the weight coming off, it just may take a while in between weigh ins to see the difference on the scale.

As mentioned, 6 lbs in a week is a high loss - probably mostly water weight and could be influenced by a lack of cals. Losing weight fast is not desirable - because you won't be healthy and won't keep it off. Here are some threads that explain the basics of cal intake, metabolism and exercise cals. MUST READS!

Thank you guys for posting. I guess I just feel like I'm so overweigh more pounds should be coming off since I'm not eating fast food everyday now and I'm not eating as many calories as I was 2 weeks ago.

I want to lose weight the healthy way and keep it off. And I want to do it right. I'm trying to meet my 1200 calories a day but sometimes a few hundred calories off especially after exercising.
