quitting

I just took a look at my friend list. Of the 11 friends I made since I started here about 6 months ago, 5 have not logged in in 30 days or more. Take a look at your list and see if it holds true.

That's a 50% quitting rate. :frown: :embarassed:  :noway: :explode:

Good thing no one could ever possibly have legitimate reasons to not log in for a few days. Understanding friends like you are the best!

ETA: Looks like you have someone who's at 6 days. Best get on that.

You have no idea what they're doing. Don't be so quick to assume they just quit.

Also, my friends are locked in my basement.

I expect hourly updates from my friends or I delete them and report them to the moderators for inappropriate behavior.

I'm not quite that bad, I give people a week, or if I notice they are habitually not around for a few days at a time. buhbye

I have been here for 2 years and have around 20 friends not many have quit. not all of us log in every day and some have left and come back but we are all still here most of the time and still trying. I am lucky to have such a lovely group of friends.

Meh. If I've never interacted with someone, then I delete them. I don't delete people who aren't here a few days or even a month, depending on our interactions. I've been there, done that.

If they're not logging every day, they're not taking up space on your wall either. Why so quick to axe them?

I tend to trim people who have been on in a long time, but a few days is pretty quick.

I could care less how often they log in. I only delete if I find out they're Republicans.

What about giving them a bit of support and send them a "where are you?" note? If they don't respond, then give them the flick.

Life takes over sometimes. People go on hols - So forth so on.. If someone isn't around for a long time then sure delete them.

You could even fire off a msg saying "feel free to re add me if you come back".

I tend to give people about a month with no logging incase they are on holidays. I don't expect my friends to report what is happening in their lives.

My friends list consists of my husband. He hasn't logged in years. Just deleted him. Kidding! I know I don't log all the time because there are times when I just don't need to. When my activity level goes up when I'm training for a race then I just focus on making healthy choices but I don't have to count calories. Right now I'm trying to stay focused and I'm off running because I need a break so I'm logging regularly. Some people have quit, others perhaps have their weight under control and are focused on the rest of life. It's a tool and everyone uses it differently.

I'm happy to have others along for the ride, to congratulate their success and console them when they fail, but they don't owe me anything, and I don't expect anything from them. My commitment is to myself, not to strangers on the internet, friends in real life, or even my family or significant other. Why does it matter what other people are doing or not doing, if it's working for you?

I was out for 6 months due to bronchitis and I pinched a nerve in my neck and had zero mobility in my left shoulder. I was in SO much pain. I went to the chiropractor and now I feel SO much better and finally have pushed myself to get back on track. I joined a gym and I am working with a trainer. And I am SO glad that my friends did not delete me!

I think I have some friends that haven't logged in months!! lol its not clogging my newsfeed, its not interrupting my weight loss and I don't think there is a " friend max allowance" on MFP.

I quit for a while, my house flooded and was unlivable, life was generally pretty crap, and I wasn't around for about 6 weeks. When I came back, I was so grateful for the friends who hadn't deleted me and welcomed me back, that I stopped deleting inactive friends unless I can look at their profile and not actually recall interacting with them.

I've had a fair few "Hi I'm back" posts from friends who've been away and they seem to be happy to be welcomed back, too. I dunno, I feel like insta-deleting anyone who isn't around for a while is kind of like you've turned your back on them for 'failing'. It's no skin off my nose to have their profile sitting there in my friends list. God knows, I've had enough false starts in my weight loss history.

I quit MFP twice and did a pre-emptive delete of friends I had the last round, to save them the trouble of seeing my non-logging *kitten*. Which was kind of dumb because now I'm back on my longest streak ever. Awkward.

I don't care if they log in or not. I've gone 3 months without logging in, but I've lost 52lbs this year. I only log in so often at the moment because I have a boring job and too much time on my hands, so I like to troll the forums to make my day go quicker.

I rank my friends based on how useful I think they'll be in the Zombie Apocolypse. Happy to have as many of you Americans as wants to add me, y'all got guns right?

I've been here almost 2 years and seen a LOT of people come and go. I myself was on here a year before that and quit twice before I got any real traction. Weight loss is hard. A lot of people don't make it.
