Hey everyone...I am officially addicted to Leslie Sansone's walking DVDs...I just received my second set from eBay, so of course I had to see what else I could find...anyway, I searched for Leslie Sansone, and one of the "hits" was a Leslie Sansone woman's walking DVD with 28 days worth of Nutrisystem foods..the price seemed really low so I bid on it...

I am not doing the Nutrisystem plan because watching my calories seems to be working for me...but I figured I could use the foods when I am in a pinch (i.e. don't have time to make a homecooked dinner, need a fast breakfast or a tasty lunch, etc.)...so I won't be using the foods for all of my daily meals...more as fill ins every once in a while...

Has anyone tried the Nutrisystem foods or know anyone who has? Heard anything good or bad about it? Thanks!

    I tried it....twice....
I couldn't gag down the food...so of course I lost weight.

Whoever can do it....they are a better person then me. I have to actually enjoy my food.

My mom did Nutrisystem, but of course, once you come off their foods and eat food in teh real world, the weight comes back!

She liked some of their meals and hated others.

I have never tried Nutrisystem, but one of the girls in my group has. She said it was great-she lost weight. She has one negative comment-the cost of the food. Once she got down to her goal weight, she has been counting calories and exercising to maintain.

    (she looks great)

I used the program, and I did lose weight. It is about $10 a day for their food, then you add your own veggies, milk and cheese.

I dont know if they something in the food, or if it is because it is a 1200 cal diet, but it does work.

I used it to cut the junk out in january. I couldnt stay on it because the food while not bad, is not 'normal' so I craved real food.

I find I am losing the same amount of weight using this site as I did with them, but I will be able to eat the same food when I am done here.

I haven't but my sister has. She lost about 30 lbs using it. She said that the meals weren't too bad and she added in her own veggies & fruits.

The only problem that I've heard is that once you start eating *normal* food, you can gain it back quickly. I'd be interested to see how many cals a day they recommend you eating!

    Just my opinion!

Hmmm...I am probably not going to up my bid on this item then...like I said, I am not going to do the full on Nutrisystem plan if I win this auction...just substitute one of their meals for a regular one when I am in a pinch. And of course I plan to count those calories in my MFP food diary. Thanks for all of your input!

I did. It was awful, the pasta stuff would NEVER cook right for me and was always hard and nasty. Most of it I could barely stomach. Ick, so it didn't last long.

You may be better off just picking up some frozen meals...if it's just for in a pinch.

The one I am bidding on on eBay is only at almost $30 for a month's worth of food (that includes shipping)

How about the date of the food? I know my stuff was date stamped.

This diet works if you apply the entire program. Which I believe is the same thing we are applying here. Eat less....exercise more!!

The only thing that was good for short term were the little snacks.

I tried it and the food was awful for the most part. I ate and enjoyed a few of the lunches and dinner. Then I had to throw out so much of it because I could not find a date anywhere on the package or the container itself. I preferred Jenny Craig food. However, I feel like if I just watch my portion and count my cals, carbs, and sodium, I can enjoy what I want and still get the same benefits

Hi. I did try Nutrisystem, but I was not successful with it. I think that it would be cheaper to purchase the frozen dinners from Healthy Choice or Weight Watchers. Most of the Nutrisystem meals were around 220 calories for dinner and 150 for lunch. You ate a salad with each one.
I just started this. I hope it works. Good luck.

I tried nutrisystem as I was desperate to lose weight for my wedding...17 years ago. I signed a contract...costing me $600.00 (it included the food and counseling). I lost all the weight in 6 months, but eventually gained it all back... It did teach me about smaller portions size (this is where I lack) and snacking....
I do agree with buying lean cuisine, or other frozen entrees, for a quick fix dinner.... but sodium content is important to consider..... Definitely lifestyle changes though....

If in a pinch i love the meal bars from slim fast. The best is chocolate chip cookie dough. I believe its 220 cals and its YUMMY not diety tasting at all (IMO) they have them at the albertsons on the rack at the checkout with the candybars 10/10$ usually.

I love love love the lean cuisine meals. I think it's pretty much the same thing as nutrisystem, but you can do the same thing, for the same cost and the meals have always been GREAT!!!!! These are awesome in a pinch, and I can get more of my favorites, less of anything I'm not sure about liking.

    Breakfast-lc pizza
    lunch - lc pizza
    dinner- lc sandwich
    snacks fruits, veggies
    desert? lc icecream OF COURSE!!!

Just kidding. But their pizzas and sandwiches and mac n cheeses are particularly craving satisfying. (say that 5 times fast...)

I have a dear friend who got a whole months worth of the food. She ate only a couple of meals, and did not like it, so, she gave it to me. I know she is very fussy about food, so I did not believe her when she said the stuff tasted nasty. Lets just say my dog looked at me as if to say, "are you kidding me with this?" when I offered him one of the meals.

Oh guys I am so relieved that I was outbid! I am not bidding again on this package and am glad that I won't have to pay for it now...sounds just awful! I wanted the set for the DVD and thought the food would be an added incentive...but I will stick with the DVDs I already have and the food that I've been eating! lol

OH! I live for their pizza! Totally bites the craving in the butt.
ALSO, I picked up a few of the Fruit inspired Smart Ones today.....they have a bit less sodium!
Did you know according to the FGP (food guide pyramid) it says sodium is only supposed to be 600 mg!!! I almost died!

Looks like i'm going to have to do some research......

Okay, you research...make sure I am not seein things.
Also, I noticed Fiber is supposed to be at least 25 g.
I know that my MFP didn't set mine for that....so I re-tweaked it.

    Okay--
It appears that ON AVERAGE a person can lose 1 GRAM of sodium per hour of a hot workout. (SHORERIDER-where are you....50something miles, you oughta know something).

The average recommendation is to take in 1 gram per hour of a workout where you sweat heavily. What I couldn't find is whether or not taking in extra sodium as a general rule during the day rather than a workout drink is acceptable.

So extra sodium to the tune of 1000mg per hour of workout on our logs should be acceptable?

BUT we can't forget to rehydrate to the tune of 1.5 liters per hour.

    Hmmmmmm vewy intewesting.......

    http://www.fda.gov/FDAC/special/foodlabel/dvs.html

    Food Component DRV
    fat 65 grams (g)
    saturated fatty acids 20 g
    cholesterol 300 milligrams (mg)
    total carbohydrate 300 g
    fiber 25 g
    sodium 2,400 mg
    potassium 3,500 mg
    protein** 50 g

This might need its own thread......

Oh I see what I read, that was for a specific diet for those with high blood pressure issues, in the extreme case.
So you are right fire....high is ok.

It says in the US RDA is roughly 2400mg
However, in the UK it's about 1600mg

I am assuming the less the better. Unless you are having to replace lots of sodium you've lost via sweating, urination, etc.
