too many calories left

I stick to 1800 calories. 300 extra for breastfeeding my son. Im usually not really worried if I am under on calories but yesterday I was 998 cals under. Today (I already entered lunch and dinner even though I haven't eaten it yet) I'm 589 under before my work out. so add another 500-600 to that.

That puts me way under 1200cals a day which is supposed to be the bare minimum before hitting "starvation mode" Simple answer- EAT. but what if I don't have enough sodium left? Today I have 185 sodium left.

Question- what do you do when you have a ton of calories to spare, but not very much sodium?

Almonds or avacados. Both high in calories, but great for you in moderation.

I second the other two suggestions:
    Nuts, avocados, fruits, veggies, etc.

Extra calcium (commonly in the form of dairy) is definitely recommended for nursing mamas, as well. I was always told at least 3 servings a day of dairy.

My recommendation is to get the cals in or your going to get super run down and start burning muscles and likely slow your metabolism.

Go for lower sodium foods, and don't sweat it too much of you go over...just drink extra water to help flush I out.

    Great job, btw!!!!

Okay, I'm back with a few more questions/ideas.

I peeked at your profile and your diary and I see why you have no more sodium.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but you are eating a lot of processed and basically nutritionally void foods.

Try making some changes an you'll have a lot more success.
Whole wheat for white bread, fresh or frozen veggies instead of canned (canned has a lot more sodium!), and more whole grains/whole foods in general. I'd be happy to make some more suggestions if you are interested. Cutting calories is a start but unless those calories are nutrient rich, you will find your success limited.

Next, how old is your son? If my math is correct he is over a year old. In which case 500 calories is probably a bit high. He's likely getting most of his nutrients from food. Please note: I am an avid Breastfeeding advocate and think that you should nurse for as long as possible...I nursed both my children for 2+ years each. But o also know thy their milk consumption drops pretty dramatically at that 1 year mark.

Okay! That's all! Feel free to message me if you'd like!

I agree with you 100%. I viewed the diary and my only thought is that is not a healthy diet for a nursing mom. Way to many processed foods and barely any nutrients at all. Can't be good for baby.
