Lower Blood Count

I have been battling with low blood count due to iron deficiency and before I started dieting my numbers were getting higher. Today I had some lab work done and it showed that in the last 3 weeks my level has dropped from 11.4 to 10.2.

I was wondering if it could have anything to do with my reduced calorie intake. I have been on 1200 calories for the last 4 weeks.

Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

i've adjusted my food diary display to include iron... is a real eye opener and SO worth doing. i've found out i am getting WAY less iron in my food than i thought, no wonder i struggle with iron.
  • I'd be curious for answers to this too. Any extra ways that we can increase iron in our diets without supplements? I'm buying some more iron and Vit C in the groceries today but what else do people suggest?

Thank you all for the responses. Unfortunately we didn't get too many answers!

I will be seeing my hematologist on next Tuesday and will ask questions about whether the diet has any impact on my blood levels.

    I will let you know!
