This week, tell us what the most important thing you have learned since joining MFP is!

  • The most important thing I have learned is that this is not about a diet. It's about a lifestyle change. There is no 'miracle' weight loss pill, there are no short cuts, there are no 'get skinny quick' schemes that are even worth a second glance. I've learned it's all about ME and what I do. It's about holding myself accountable for my actions. It's about changing not just my physical body but my mentality as well.

First and foremost, congratulations to everyone. A job well done last week. We are all totally rockin this thing!
Secondly, the most important thing I've learned is to hold yourself accountable. I log EVERYTHING I eat or drink. I don't excercise just to earn a few more calories so I can then eat more at the end of the day. I closed out last night being over by eighty something calories...and I am ok with that. First and foremost I am focusing on the eating part. I do excercise, but no where near the amounts some of you do. Once I get the eating down I will add in more excercise. But I am however accountable for everything I eat, good or bad..and on the bad days (thankfully I had only 1 really bad one), I write how I feel, and you all support me 100% For that, I thank you. Have a great day everyone, and once again, GREAT job!

That is an awesome week for all! Congrats to everyone! The most important thing that I've learned since joining MFP is that I can still enjoy food. I can still go out to eat with friends or family and eat things that I like I just need to do it in moderation. I can still have chocolate just not eat 2 or 3 full size candy bars a day. I can do this for life this time because I'm learning the right way to do it:smile:
  • I have learned calories... I know that sounds broad and DUH but after the baby and my husband being overseas i used to barely eat. only when the baby was a sleep. and it wasn't really healthy. yes, i shrunk to about 143, but then my hubby came home and of course i'm trying to cook meals and i'd participate in eating too... gained quite a few pounds--i got up to 155 within 2 months. i felt awful. i didn't want my husband to see me naked. I was down and depressed. Thankfully I found this app while traveling for christmas and was like i need this. i really did.

I learned that i was nearly binge eating every night. Kinda keeping up with my husband or eating out too much. i didnt realize how much i was eating until i cut back to 1200 cals and felt hungry and like i couldnt keep this up. but after a few overages and my stomach getting used to healthy foods, it got so much easier. I'm so glad i made the choice.
