How has it worked for you?

I got this app a few months ago after a friend told me she lost 20 lbs. on it. I didn't really keep up with it much and then Christmas rolled around. Then I tried the new WW program, big waste of money - followed it completely and no loss. I finally went back to this, it's all about calories in and calories out anyway, right? So my first week I lost 2.1 - that is significant for me since I usually only lose in ounces!! My question is, do you all use the exercise calories you burn? I never used to but did last week and it worked. I'm still a little leary though. I'm training for a half marathon and am about 2/3 of the way into it. I burn an average of about 500 cal per day. So now I'm eating almost 2000. Doesn't quite seem right though, any thoughts on this?

Its all in what your body needs. Listen to your self and play with the calories to see what you can have and still reach your goals. Everyone is different so some can do the exercise calories and still lose, some can't.. Good Luck0

I try to eat only the number of calories that I listed as my daily goal. (about 1420 a day)
So I dont count calories burned doing exercise. Even though I keep track of my burned calories.0 -
I eat enough of them back to NET 1200 calories.0

This is my first week using this particular site. Prior to this week, I have been on a eating plan that using the same logic as this site and I have lost consistantly 4-5 lbs per week. This week, I added exercise and still only ate between 1500-1800 calories despite what I burn and I lost 7 lbs this week! So, it seems to work best for me not to use the calories that I burn. However, I am not training for a marathon. If weight loss is your goal, try to bank atleast 1000 calories per day and you will lose a minimum of 2 lbs per week guaranteed!0

i honestly just eat when i'm hungry. if i get to (or even over) my calorie goal with the calories burned taken into consideration, i don't worry about it. if i don't even enough so that i'm under my calories for the day, i dont worry about it either. i just eat when i'm hungry!0

Eat the exercise calories back. You will get better results if you do. There's a reason why the site tells you to do that.
Think of it like this. If you burn more, you need to give your body more fuel. Your body needs more gas on days your drive it farther. If you keep too big a deficit on a regular basis (calories you eat below what your body burns), your metabolism will slow and you'll stop losing weight.0 -
I want to weigh 140 lbs, so I eat like a 140 lb woman -- which means close to 1400 calories. I don't add more calories because of the exercise I do. I've been exercising on a regular basis (5 days a week, around 1-½ hours each morning) for 9 years and still am over weight. Last year I lost 13 pounds when I added in a food journal, counting calories (I had no idea some of the things I ate were so high calorie!), and measuring portions. When I stopped doing it, I didn't gain immediately, but after a few months gained back 10 of the pounds. I like Fitness Pal because of the running totals for my eating.
Have you ever calculated your Basic Metabolic Rate? My Health Guru extols the virtues of these numbers because then you can KNOW how many calories you're burning and how many you should be consuming. (I'm not interested in being that scientific, so I haven't done this.)
Here's a relatively easy place to calculate this: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/0
