I apologize to the men folk out there..lol
I am curious how many of you don't and how many of you continue to workout. My first few days are heavy (not cramping or anything) just yuck!! and well for reasons I will spare you all I can't and don't use tampons. So walking on the treadmill at a high speed well ewww...
Do any of you take a few days off while "it's around?"
I feel a little bad but then I am like ughh there is no way..

I force myself to! I feel so much better after!0

I do work out during that time. It makes me feel better. I also do not use tampons and never have.0
-
I always work out on my period! I feel 1000% better after my workout than before!! Exercise helps with PMS and period symptoms!0
-
i do0

I took a day off last time, but I am wanting to workout next time to see if it helps! I soooo don't want to on a heavy day, but I will see how it goes!0
-
Definitely do!0

I don't work out if it's really heavy. If it's not, I make myself.0
-
I also force myself - I'll at least go on my walks during break/lunch. I also practice yoga on the Wii Fit (plus I have the "Yoga for Dummies" Dvd's) and i'll do some yoga as well. After awhile the yoga & walking combine help relieve the cramps & sometimes it won't last as long (does that make sense?)0

i'm not opposed to working out during that time - it's just i have no energy and i tend to give into my cravings (which i know is bad), so i just end up feeling all gross and bloaty and stay on the couch.
if i do muster the energy to workout, i do feel tons better after - it's just getting off the couch in the first place.0 -
Yeah I find it makes me feel so much better. If you dont fancy the treadmill why not just go for a walk?0

My periods don't stop me doing anything, so I carry on as normal, but admittedly I don't have your problems either. I think you just need to try and see what you're comfortable with.0

I usually don't, but last month was unusually heavy so I had a nap on the couch instead and then ate some chocolate. Lol. :P0

I do work out. It's surprisingly helpful with the cramps...0

I don't stop when it's here, I just carry on as normal. It does definitely make me feel better if I do cardio during it though and I think because I am sweaty my monthly cycle related breakouts seem to be so much better. I did always think that once you were an adult you would no longer break out, but nope 27 and still getting pimples is never a good thing!0

I always do. I have the mirena now so the flow isn't an issue but before I got it, it was. The funny thing is, at least for me, when I worked out the cramps were SO much better and the heaviness of the bleeding was not as bad. Not to mention I didn't feel as biznatchy.0

I always workout. No excuses.0

Of course. Do you still get up and go to work? Then why can't you work out? Besides, it really does make you feel better. It is a little harder for me to run and I seem to go slowly during that time, but I feel better, more awake, and in less pain the rest of the day. I'm still grouchy and want to eat all the chocolate on the planet, but I don't think menstruation is a valid excuse.0

I try to walk but this last one was really rough for me. I walked maybe once during it.... I just keep eating well and try not to let the cravings take over.... and lots of H20!! It seems the day it ends or day after I drop a couple pounds..... I get really horrible cramps so its hard to get the energy to workout.0

i still workout, i find it makes it go quicker too...and the endorphones it releases makes me feel much less like crap!0
-
oh plus!!! I need the extra calories so i can eat chocolate : )0
-
Yep, I do. I don't do it as hard because for some reason my heart races and I get dizzy (I think it's iron deficiency), but I still do as much as I can.0
-
I do. It makes me feel better and sometimes helps with the cramping.0

I've never thought about not. Any form of exercise helps decrease bloating and treat menstrual symptoms.0

This is sooo true. It definitely helps me out and I don't like to use tampons either.0 -
I found that if I'm feeling lethargic I need to take an iron supplement. I am also anemic so it helps to get me through that week. But you should try to workout during TOM.0
-
i generally do...i've found that although (way tmi) i bleed a bit heavier and longer, i have way less pain than if i don't exercise...and my weight doesn't fluctuate0
-
I do, and I have heavy periods & don't use tampons. I just use a night time pad & wear a very long & baggy t/shirt.0

The first 2 days I don't work out, because I have really heavy bleeding and bad cramps all the way in my back and down my legs and I feel like I want to throw up.So I take it easy on my body and the third day I continue and everything is okay.I tried to work out once while I had my period, for me wasn't a good idea.It was worse afterward. But that is me,and for me it doesn't effect anything, I still lose weight and I am still strong.Oh one thing what I do is, I work out harder and more before my period comes so I am okay to take a brake for 2 days:-)0

It depends on how I'm feeling. I'm in the midst at the moment and last night I did workout (Taekwondo class = hard workout!) Today I'm kind of being a slug. I feel like someone has taken me by the middle and is wringing me out so I will probably skip it today. Tomorrow will be better and I'll make up a workout then since I usually take Friday's off. I've tried working out through bad days like today and I just end up feeling worse. The upside it, I have no desire to eat so I'm not doing any damage there! What I have eaten I had to force on myself.0

I work out too. I experience terrible cramps (800 mg motrin 3 times a day for first 2 days). They go into my legs and I literally feel like death. Add bleeding to death into the mix and I don't want to do anything but I force myself to walk. Usually 10 minutes into the walk I feel pretty good. I will not run during that time though. I just usually walk at 3.5 mph. It does indeed help with the severity of the cramps.0
