So I had a pasty for lunch today it WAS one of my favourite foods. I thought well I hit 60lb lost and my cals will allow it today as will my fats and sat fats so why not. I had been smart with all my other meal plans and snacks for the day and really was looking forward to enjoying it. How wrong was I for a starters I'm still hungry and it doesn't taste as good as it used too chances are I'm going to go over now with trying to satisfy my hunger and I really feel like I have wasted the 400+ cals

drink lots of water!! Try to fill that belly up! Hang in there. Great job losing weight so far!!
  • Your tastes are probably changing - mine certainly have, after a long time on healthy food some things I used to really really love just taste horrid now.

What you did was a good thing. The WRONG thing to do would be to try to relive your old likes through the food by eating a ton of them. You are dissociated from the food, which has to feel great!!! Think about it, 60 lbs ago you might have eaten a few and still had a desire for more. Today you ate 1...just ONE...and you realized that it wasn't what you really wanted, so you stopped. Tomorrow, you won't want that food...a month from now you won't want that food. If you were ever an emotional eater, you now have the tools in your memory to say the next time you are emotional and you want food, that thing...that nasty greasy thing...is not what you want to put in your mouth.

I think the BEST thing you could do for yourself is to think about that food and how it wasn't worth it, how it was fatty and gross and unfulfilling and how it made you feel bad about eating it and lock onto that. Once you have that feeling and you no longer want that food ever again, generalize that feeling, so the next time you think about french fries or hot dogs or anything else inherently bad for you, you can conjure that same emotion and kill the urge.

I was just thinking (as I'm sitting and eating my lunch) how different food has been tasting. I've been on MFP for almost 4 weeks, and just eliminating junk food from my diet has had a major effect on my taste buds. It's just like everything tastes so much more flavourful, and I'm actually enjoying everything I'm eating and savouring my food. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed similar!

thanks for the input I do still like some of my "naughty" foods but now I have control over them whereas they used to have control over me. I do feel like My tastes have changed instead of ordering steak with chips I have a salad with it now I seem to be making more conscious choices and for the better may do another round of the 30 day shred today and hopefully earn some cals back x

Well, since I don't have a clue what a pasty is, I certainly can't judge whether it was worth it or not. But I know you and you've done such a fantastic job I think it would be ok to have a piece of cheese or something that will curb the hunger. Congratulations on a job well done, you are an inspiration to us all and I really enjoy watching you melt away (so to speak).
