Eating right with a cold...

I have come down with a cold and am having trouble staying within my calorie goal. I have this constant feeling like my sugar is low or I'm not getting enough protein which is making it hard not to raid the fridge. Anyone have any ideas why or know anything about this? Need some insight...

I just went through this about a week ago. I decided to back off on exercise a bit because I was tired and achy. And I chose to go ahead and eat as much fruit as I wanted (oranges, strawberries, blueberries) and cut back on grains, dairy and meat to balance things out. I also slammed lots of herbal cold remedy teas, cinnamon tea, and water. I felt better within 24 hours but that's not unusual since I've been using these teas. Maybe I'm drowning the virus, lol.

I have a cold right now too and it's exhausting! You may be feeling hungry because you're exhausted and your body wants more energy. I have the opposite problem though, where I feel too exhausted to even eat, but I know when my body's sick it's especially time to take care of it through eating well, getting all your vitamins and water, and resting as much as you can.

If anyone else has any insights that'd be great, because this is just from my personal experience.

Thanks for the tip. Hard to get the rest I need with two toddlers, but I can go fire up the tea pot and peel and orange. BTW - Can't wait to be able to do with my pants what you're doing with your's in the photo! Looking good!

I feel for ya, being sick with little ones around is especially tough! Been there done that. Ooof.

You just stay with it, eat healthy, exercise as much as you can, and stay within your calorie goal and you'll be showing off old jeans pretty soon too!
  • I am just getting back into it after having a nasty cold and laryngitis for 2 weeks.
It definitely is hard to keep on track when you aren't feeling your best. You just do what you can and when you start feeling better you jump right back into the game and hit it hard!!!

Good luck, and feel better soon!!
