Losing inches where I didn't want to...

Been on here just over a month, and was exercising for a few weeks before that. My beer belly has almost gone, but my chest has also reduced by 3", from 43" to 40" is that to be expected? I have started working out with weights as well as cardio since about two weeks ago...

Regards, David

I would say that is normal. Most people may not totally realize it, but men carry breast tissue too, and you can easily carry inches there.

I unfortunately have "moobs" (man boobs) currently due to my weight and the fact that I've always had a slight case of gynecomastia. With weigh loss in the past I have always seen this flatten out quite a bit, but never quite go away due to the condition. If you don't have this problem, you will most likely notice a flattening of the chest. Heavy weight exercises like bench press, push press and such should fill it back out.

When I was a weight lifter I always liked heavy chest lifts for this reason (and it sort of makes your gut look smaller too! ;) )

Yep, you lose fat from all over, not just the belly. Keep up with the weight training, lots of bench presses, dips, and pushups and you'll add some quality inches to your chest. Also work your big back muscles with pullups and rows to balance out your upper body.

It's different for everyone. Unfortunatley we cannot spot reduce. Chest exercises should help you keep things firm and lifted.

David, I would look at it like this, that is 3 less inches of fat from around your heart and lungs. That is wonderful news and sounds like your building muscle. WTG!!

Yep, I've lost from everywhere...even on my calves which I thought were pretty lean to begin with. It's just a part of the process. I figure I am in no danger of becoming a twig, I can always pack muscle and inches back on where I want it once my BF% is down low enough.
