We went shopping at Sam's Club...lol. We also paid off our credit card debts, the medical bills, paid car insurance for 6 months, bought propane, bought a few new pairs of jeans, an HRM...there's still some left, not sure what we'll do with that. Thinking about buying a new mattress as ours is soooooooo old! And we're going on our honeymoon!

We are having a WONDERFUL time.

Did our returns. We're owed $4500 between state and federal taxes. HOWEVER, we never received a letter the Dept of Ed says they sent back in August, so they are HOLDING the entire amount for my husband's student loan. So we've lost $4500. They said we can do a hardship appeal due to my health issues, and that maybe we'll get some of it back, but I won't hold my breath. We probably never got the letter because of our postal carrier, who we at the complex have filed complaints against because he just puts all our mail in whatever box he feels like.

    F#$%ing government.

I caught up some bills and bought a car. It felt good to pay cash for a car! In my lifestyle change, i'm not only making my body helathier, im also making my life better. I'm going to start a savings now that i dont have a car payment. I figure the $280 a month i was putting toward my car payment will go into my savings. If not all, a good part of itI

Good luck to you and happy shopping!:drinker:

Oregon Scientific from Walmart...it was in my price range, and I've heard it works really well.
  • Paying off a credit card, fixing my husband's sailboat, and my husband, son and I are all going clothes shopping to update our wardrobe. I will happily update mine with clothes that are 4 sizes smaller! I will also be getting fitted for new running shoes.

We had to pay back our homeowner credit this year, so even though we filed our taxes on Jan 10th, they were not processed until February 14th and we will not get our refund until March 1st. Sad panda. One more week to wait :(.

Just filed mine on Monday night and once I get my refund I am going to pay off a credit card, register for a 4 week women's-only fitness boot camp, and register for a series of 7 different 5Ks (the series is held annually in my county and the races all benefit different charities).

I will be putting new tile floors in my house! I bought a fixer-upper a couple years ago...and have needed new floors from day one. Last year I bought a new AC/heater, this year is floors. Found out this morning it is being delayed yet another week :( I was put in the group that had to wait until 2/14 to submit so I am not surprised there are more delays but I am bummed...I am not the most patient when it comes to money hahahah

Now to be the downer here, but my gosh, what kind of returns are you people getting??? I work in finance and I always strongly recommend to my clients to shoot for getting a return between $300-500 maximum. Anything you get in a return is an interest-free 12 month loan to the government. Change what you are claiming at work and use that money during the year!! What's more valuable - a $6000 tax refund or $500 extra every month? In my experience, most - not all, but most - people would prefer the monthly raise.

However, I know some people like having that money out of their hands for the year so they can use it for vacation, property taxes, etc. If that's you, great. But I know a lot of people get their refund, look at it as "free money" and use it irresponsibly. If that sounds familiar, please consider talking to a CPA and figuring out what you should REALLY be claiming on your W-4 at work.

Again, sorry to be a downer and I'll butt out of this conversation now. Have a good day y'all!!

Save it. The more cushion in our bank account, the better.
