I am looking to invest in a good HRM. Any ideas on what I should get or what the best ones are? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I got a Polar FT7 for Christmas and I absolutely love it.
The chest strap is comfortable, and it seems to be relatively accurate so far - I love the calorie burn display!0 -

I had an old polar F7, upgraded it and my new Polar FT7 should arrive today .. got a mans one cos I prefer their colours, black with a wicked red stripe going through it .. can't wait to use it, my old one probably just needed a new battery but was looking tired through overuse - sooooo cited to get my new one :bigsmile:0

I also have the Polar FT7 and absolutely love. The chest strap is comfortable (I forget it's there sometimes). I thought it was really cute; on my birthday it displayed a birthday cake all day.
Anyway if you invest in that one, I doubt you'll be disappointed.0 -
love my garmin forerunner 3050

Timex and Polar make good inexpensive models. Timex has added benefitof having replaceable battery in chest strap. I'm using the Timex Ironman Personal Trainer that I got for about $80. The problem with Timex and Polar is the both use a proprietary calculation for "calories burned" that overestimates those calories by a significant amount (according to my internet research).
At this time I'm not willing to spend more money on a better quality HRM so I just recognize that the HRM overestimates calories burned, and use some online calculators.
A couple of calculators to check your exercise - calories burned

I would recommend the polar either the FT4 or 7 models. they come with a chest strap which will give you a much more accurate reading then a traditional HRM. I had a sportline, which i had purchased for about $40 from wally world. well i returned it 3 days later because it didn't work right. If I had done my research I would have bought the polar and not wasted my time or money on the sportline ( tons of bad reviews on this HRM ).
good luck

I have the Polar FT4, and I have loved it. Great for a more accurate tracking of calories for activities, and to find out calories burned for a lot of stuff that wasn't really on MFP. Definitely get one with a chest strap for best accuracy.0
