I'm trying to gain weight without eating to unhealthily and I keep coming in under my calorie goal, so what are some healthy foods that will help put weight on?

Unsalted nuts, avocado, regular dairy are some good healthy ones.
  • Thanks, will definately try the avacado and dairy, the nuts will have to wait until the braces come off :(

watch dairy though, if its milk esp. it's high in sat fat
  • Nuts! Just make sure the nuts are in raw state...no one wants or needs the extra sodium.

beans, peas and whole grains also have a fair amount of calories and are healthy. dark chocolate is high in calories and antioxidants, too
  • Peanut butter (since you can't eat nuts)

I agree with the suggestion for OP to eat them in raw state, but have to disagree about no one wanting the extra sodium  I am a sodium lover.. haha I'm trying to retrain my tastebuds, but I definitely prefer roasted/salted bad for you nutty deliciousness :ohwell:

Peanut butter and almond butter are great.

    Dates, dried fruit, trail mix.

The plain Fage brand Greek strained yogurt 's (not low- or non-fat) is the most amazing and delicious yogurt ever (I'm normally not a yogurt fan), and I love it with honey and fruit.

    Protein shakes and fruit smoothies.

Good-quality whole-grain bread and/or raisin bread would be great, too.

    Whole-grain pastas, brown rice.

You can live it up with dairy, just make sure it's a local, organic brand that treats the cows well and doesn't pump 'em full of hormones and antibiotics.

    Enjoy!

Definitely NATURAL peanut butter! You can go to a whole foods type store and they will actually make it there. Make sure that the only ingredients are salt and peanuts ( i think its those two..I just know natural ones do not have hydrogenated oils in them ) anyway its absolutely delicious and a great way to make up for extra calories. You can also try almond butters - that is what I have heard. I can't have those cause of a mild allergy. hope this helped!

I can understand unsalted (or at least understand why some people want them unsalted - I don't - yum, salt!). However, why raw? What's wrong with roasted unsalted nuts?

Also, I make my own peanut butter in the VitaMix - super yum. I do use unsalted roasted peanuts for it but add back in about 1/2 tsp salt per pound of nuts. We just can't deal with the totally unsalted thing.
