Question about swinging?

I was at the park swinging for about 50 mins. I don't mean sitting on a swing moving back and forth slowly, I'd say it was an average speed though. It made my legs hurt a little from the motion of going up & down.
Is that even a good way to work out? I can't figure out how many calories it would burn so I'm just curious about it.

Well, you did something, but it's obviously not the most efficient exercise. If you wanted to log it, I would suggest a 25 minute 3 mph walk, but that may even be too much.

unless you got sweaty and short of breath, i'd say you may have burned 50 calories. When I have a minimal effort work out or when i am working at the hospital and spend much of the day on my feet, i log it as walking 2 mph for about 1/4 to 1/2 of the time i actually did it

i think "that" kind would burn more calories than swinging on playground swing.

to answer your question - I would say no, it's not a good way to workout and wouldn't record it as such.
  • I'm right there with you all. I saw swinging and was like o.0 say wha' now? *click* lol!

On my first date with my wife, we had to stop by her house for a moment to pick a bathing suit up. I followed her to her room and was standing there as she went through her dresser looking for a suit. I looked up and saw an industrial sized hook in the ceiling. Above the bed. Not the right location for a hanging plant and much too sturdy.

My curiosity got the better of me. I asked her about it. She didn't flinch when she told me it was for a swing.

I proposed to her 6 weeks later. Still hang it up from time to time. Very pleasant way to burn calories.

Poor kid, the whole thread is about how y'all misinterpreted the word swinging, very few people answered her question. In response to your question, i dont think its a good workout, but u did burn something
