Working out, losing weight and getting healthy is not only physical but mental as well. I may need some help. To start it off I use to be 355 pounds. I lost down to 300 and then I had the yo yo effect. Back up to 330, down to 300, up to 321 and now I am down to 303. I know that I am losing weight. I have worked my butt off for what I have done. My friends and family see it but I dont. One minute I will look in the mirror and think wow..I look great. But then the next day or even the same day, look in the mirror and still see the 355 pound me. Sometimes I think that siderails me..I figure why because I dont see a change. The problem is that I dont see it. I have been over weight my whole life (started about 2nd gradde) I am gonna change this time...I dont know what to do to make it different this time. But I am determined to change myself mentally and physically!

I have the same feelings at 170 lbs... I've lost 5 lbs and sometimes I look in the mirror and say wow... only 5 lbs and I can really tell. Other days I look in the mirror and still that extra 5 lbs plus some. It is a distorted body image.. happens to all sizes and shapes of people. I too need to work on the mental side of feeling good about what I have accomplished.... and until I do that I know I wont be happy no matter what the scale says, or what size clothes I am fitting into. Good luck to you on your journey!

My mindset changed when I decided to focus on my health rather than my weight or my looks. I had lost about 10 pounds and could see some changes in my body but I still saw all the flaws. I'd see the number on the scale go down but all I could see was how much I still had to lose. I realized that being skinny wasn't what I wanted, I wanted to be a healthy role model for my children. So I was able to see the positive changes, not the work I had left.

You can do it!! You have us to support and help you! I know what you're feeling though. I weigh 206, but I think I look like I weigh more than that. When I told a co worker how much I weighed she couldn't believe it because she thought I weighed way less than that. So, even if we can't see it, others can. Plus, it's also about how our clothes fit. Stick with it and one day you'll look in the mirror and you will see it! You got this!!

I know how you feel. I have many days where I just feel fat, even with a 47 pound loss. I know this is going to be a lfestyle change and NOT just a quick fix so it makes that much easier to stay with it. Last night I went to BajaFresh for my ususal Enchilada style Burrito I have each week. I told my mom that I'm ok with losing a little more slowly because I want to be able to incorporate all the foods that i love as to not feel deprived. If I don't I just won't stay with it. I have a long journey ahead and it may take some time to get to goal but I will and I will stay there beacause I know that I am able to still eat what I love and feel like I am not suffering. You have to change your mentality and be more focused on becoming healthy and not just doing a quick fix diet, look where it got it in the first place?! Add exercise and everyday make better choices in what you eat. Write in an online journal about how you feel. Yes, it's going to take some time but you didn't get where you are overnight. Everyday become easier and you start to feel much better about yourself because you are makingbetter choices. You have to do this for you. I stil have 108 pounds to go but it doesn't seem so bad anymore because I am focused and I know I am on the right path. You can do this, be positive and stay focused on you! Add me as a friend if you like we'll get there together!

I understand your situation. I have been overweight since I was young as well and I am sick of it. I am determined that this time I am not going to diet I am going to change my life. I recently went home and my parents couldn't stop gushing about "how great I looked", I still haven't seen it; but, I know one day I will look in the mirror and be amazed. You should be PROUD of your progress so far and you can stick with it, relish in those moments when you get to see your weight loss in the mirror and use it for motivation when you aren't so sure there is a difference. You have a strong attitude and you can accomplish this. Good Luck and if you are looking for a friend/support from someone with similar goals please feel free to add me.

This so true, it's not about the number on the scale if you were 300 and in a size 4 would it matter what the scale said. I really think you should work on your mental state, get healthy for you and skinny doesn't always mean healthy. Not matter what our size we all have issues our but is to big, you have cellulite on your legs, it's always something. you need to find inner peace and be happy being you and the weight will come off.

From your posts it is clear to me your head is in the right place. Your confidence in yourself maybe a little shaky but that is why we are here, to support you! The most important thing you can do is live the life that you want. Continue to make choices that you can stand behind and keep reaching out for support when you need it. You will reach your goals! Just keep telling yourself that!
  • Don't worrie about the ups and downs. Your a fighter. Yes!!! You are. Fighters don't look in the mirror while thier in a fight. They have a goal. To win, survive, to conquer and to live. I Lost 26 pounds and 91 to go. I won 26 rounds. I'm still high off the first round. Looking foward to next round.

I have always been overweight, right from childhood. I've also done the yoyo weightloss thing. This time i'd had enough i wanted a whole new me. I went and had my hair cut and i changed the colour. A new me, a new attitude and a new look to go with, only to be improved by a weightloss. It really helped me to get into a different frame of mind. I haven't been perfect since but then i don't intend to spend the rest of my life without the foods i like but i am finding that if i have something not so good that i don't let it spiral out of control for a week like i've done previously.
