WHAT CAN YOU DO TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS?

Everyone is different. Yes, you did not gain all of your weight overnight. Hence you are not going to lose it overnight and maintain the lose and be healthy.

But I would start by looking at what kind of foods are you eating. Are you eating fresh foods instead of processed foods? How is your protein intake? Are you eating empty calories? All of these things contribute to weight loss. Lastly, are you eating enough calories?
How often are you eating? It is better to eat small intake of calories each hour, then you have large amounts of caloric intake at one time. One is because your body can burn it faster and you keep your metabolism going all day instead of starting the fire, letting it die out and restarting it. If you put fuel on the fire in small amounts more often it will burn constantly.

Let me know if I can be of any more help.
  • focus less on the scale and much more on how you feel in general. healthiness is not so much about the number that us women get fixated on but more upon WHAT you are doing each day for your heart, for your nutrition, and for fitness. if YOUR focus is on that then your overall well being will be where it needs to be.

feel free any of you to add me as a buddy as i leave positive "food for thought" each day to keep you in a healthy frame of mind!

  • This *is* a place of support- so hopefully you can ignore potential hijacks to your thread :flowerforyou:
I was worried about the same weight loss issue also, and apparently I am on track and losing normally-so you are doing great!!:drinker: It sounds like you are doing the right things-and if you need to change some of it, this is the place to get great feedback for that. Research, research , research! And sticking to your plan-it's a work in progress. Kudos to you...

This is normal. Five pounds in a month is great! Just remember that people that lose a lot of weight really fast are more likely to put it back on again (plus some!).

Some people that are overweight and live a sedentary life that change their diet and add exercise they will lose much more in the beginning than maybe others... At least that is what has happened to me at first now i am losing a normal 1.5-2 ibs a week.

Thanks, that is what I have been telling myself. I didn't become overweight overnight it was a gradual process. I have to say I have been feeling GREAT on the inside, I got a little pep in my step. So things are changing that is what matters. It's not about speed

caps is considerd the equivalent to yelling on the internet. It is poor etiquette. No harm done tho.

1 lbs lost is fine really. If you accurately calculate your calories in vs you calories out, I suspect you would be around a 500 calorie deficit.

If you want quicker results, increase your deficit by exercising more.

You are doing great! Don't get discouraged! Remember, you are taking the weight off in a slow, steady and healthy way so you can't compete with crash dieters that will gain their weight back immediately.
  • If I'm only eating 1200 calories a day and burning off 500 to 900 a day in exercise will this kick start my weight loss in the beginning or do I need to eat more calories first? MY BMI is 24 and my body fat is 26.My BMR is 1483.

Have you tried measuring inches lost as well as just weight? This is a better gauge of thenfat you are losing, and can be very encouraging!

One pound is roughly 3500 calories. If you look at it that way, you're excluding/burning an extra 5000 calories a week! That's pretty amazing! A weight loss of 1-2lbs a week is easier to maintain than a loss of 3-5lbs a week. That is one reason that people should really aim to slow their weight loss at the end and use their weight loss techniques to maintain.
Losing 5lbs a week is amazing. Some people are lucky to lose half that! Now I've lost 26lbs in 60 days - but guess what? I was sitting pretty at 400lbs. When I count calories I also make much healthier choices and eat more often, its like an automatic response. That's why my weight is coming off fast. It will slow down and I will lose at your pace soon.
Don't compare your weight loss to others because it will get you no where.
Compare yourself TO yourself. Compare yourself at today to the you last month.
  • I am in the same boat with you! . I have been trying to lose weight since Jan 1 and have only lost 7lbs but my sister joined gym Feb 5 and have already lost 10lbs.
