Are protein powders dangerous?

  • Interesting information. I am using the P90X Powder Formula, and I would venture to guess that there are plenty of other processed foods that I have eaten over the years that have more metals and the like in them than my P90X stuff. I would venture that teflon pans would put more into my body than the powders...but that is for another discussion.

If I read too much of this, I won't be able to eat anything anymore!!

Just get an organic protein powder from a reputable source, don't take it religiously, and have peace of mind. :flowerforyou:

Yes, that seems like a good one! The one I am using isn't listed, so not sure how it rates! It is GNC, but a different one than those that were tested.

It really depends on what you're looking for... Make sure it has the USDA Certified Organic symbol on it. Then there's your options of whey, rice, soy, hemp, etc protein. Then you've got brands to look at. I'm not too familiar with any of them specifically.

I would recommend going to your local health food store, and asking to speak with someone who has knowledge about protein powders. Tell them your concerns about hidden toxins, and ask for their advice. Ask if something organic would be best suited to you, and get them to help you choose a brand! I love talking to the specialists at my health food store.
