Do they all count calories burned? Should I buy a heart rate monitor or pedometer that tracks calories? I don't have the extra money for something expensive so if you guys have any suggestions that would be great.

I would recommend a heart rate monitor over a pedometer. Heart rate monitors are designed to allow you to exercise in heart rate zone for example, your fat burning zone, your fitness zone, etc. It also allows you to montior your heart rate so you DO NOT exceed your maxium heart rate and place unnecessary strain on your heart. Polar have a wide range of heart rate monitors and that is what i use. As for the model, the more money you pay the better quailty you will get and the more functions. I recommend the F7 as a minimum.0
