I haven't had this happen but yeah, I'd be careful. Sounds like you are on the right track simply by recognizing that there is something wrong with it.0

I don't make this suggestion lightly, but you need to see a counselor ASAP. These are all signs of an eating disorder, and while it may not be full-fledged yet, you need to nip it in the bud. You know it's unhealthy, and you want to stop, or else you wouldn't have posted on here. Please talk to your doctor about this so you can get back on the right track. You're worth it. Please don't harm your body in this way.0

I occassionally do the same thing and it is an eating disorder. Try seeing a counselor before you cant control it PLEASE!!0

Agreed. Take care of yourself. *hugs*0 -
That definitely sounds like something that could lead to serious problems if it continues. Don't get so stressed over calories and weight that you start abusing your body, which is what not eating and excercising too much really is.0
-
I agree with the pp's - please get yourself to a good doctor as soon as you possibly can. This isn't a healthy path to follow.
Take care!0 -
there are many great weight loss plans out there--it does not have to be done that way. You just have to commit yourself to follow the plan in order for it to work.0

HUGS!!! Don't let weight loss overwhelm you. You can do it without those behaviors. But my best recommendation is to find a therapist that specializes in eating disorders because these are behaviors that are linked to anorexia. Talk to someone who is trained in helping people overcome those behaviors and work toward a healthy relationship with food and exercise and your body. Being healthy is number one and a healthy weight will come with a healthy mind and body. And know that there are plenty of people here to support you in being healthy in achieving your goals.0

Oh honey. (((hugs))) This is a step down the eating disorder road.
I have to agree with the others who have suggested that you speak with your family doctor and get a referral to someone who specilaizes in eating disorders. Get a hold of this thing now, before it gets a hold on you and detours your life and health.
We're here for you!0 -
yeah, symptoms of an eating disorder. by the way, chewing and spitting doesn't do anything. you can actually gain weight from that because your body is going to start producing more insulin...which produces a bigger appetite which is gonna make you feel even hungrier. also, your body starts to absorb calories and fat as soon as it hits your mouth and that's gonna be washed down in your saliva. google it girl.0

The fact that you're only eating 200-300 calories a day alone is very worrying. I don't think this is the place for you. See your doctor.0
-
You need to seek out a Food Addict counseling group! There's lots of people that go to these. It's like the AA of food addiction. This isn't normal. You need to eat and only 300 calories a day is really jeopardizing you in the end.0

Oh my. If this is the case, then you are already well down the road of eating disorders. PLEASE see your doctor ASAP!0 -
Everyone is right. I'm just here to give you an e-hug and tell you to follow these wise people's advice.0

I don't think I have an eating disorider yet. And I don't want to stop doing what I am doing bc I am still overweight. I did google it and some people say you get a small amount of calories through salivia. I am only have few calories because I am on the hcg diet/ drogs.0

thank you for the people supporting me and giving me advice. i see what i have thoughts to do and i stop it WAY more then i do. i am strong and working through this. i want to wweight 140 when really 130-135 would make more sense. some days are hard but i have family helping me and its not like i skin and bones nor would i ever get that way. i appreciate the support from people in lsoing the weight this site has been very helpful and grateful for people like you . .. .0

Key word here is YET. I would beg to differ with you on that one. You may not meet all the criteria, but you certainly appear to have some of the behaviors and thinking patterns associated with eating disorders. I AM QUITE worried about you. But I also know that, ONLY YOU can change it. You have the support of loads of people here - if you want it. Sounds like you aren't quite ready to address it. YET. I hope you come to that place soon. EVERY day you are doing damage, if not to your metabolism, then to your mental health.
quoting you" And I don't want to stop doing what I am doing bc I am still overweight." [/quote]
- This pattern of behavior and thinking, may help you lose weight. BUT it will NEVER be enough. EVEN when you are 80lbs..... Do it the healthy way, your body and mind will thank you for it.
take care......
I see that you made a similar post a few days ago, and recieved similar responses. I wonder about that.0 -

Oh honey, yes you do have an eating disorder. I wish that weren't the case, but you do. Being underweight is NOT a criteria for diagnosing an eating disorder--most of the folks I know with eating disorders are normal weight or above normal weight. How can this be? Becuase this is a disease of the mind. It's about an unusual and destructive pattern of thinking and behavior--it's not related to weight until the disorder has been in place for years. So yes, there are overweight anorexics, and their are underweight binge eaters. This is a pyschological problem that then evolves to encompass massive physical problems. And in recovery and relapse, again, you see normal and overweight folks who are still suffering from eating disorders.
PLEASE GET HELP NOW. Before this gets worse and you permanently damage your body and mind.
WE ARE HERE FOR YOU. But you have to help yourself before we can help you.0 -
thank your for your harsh but HELPFUl advice. i will daily try to be on a healthy level of dieting but its wont be easy because your right this is mental. and it came on on its own because when i started it was healthy. thank you uu.
i dont spit daily. btw0 -
Chewing/spitting to me are also signs of an eating disorder.0
-
And by the way, I wanted to tell you that you are beautiful!0

Either way if you eat right, do what you need to do, you'll get there soon enough....but if you cheat, cut corners, and yo yo diet you'll be worse off than you were.....and I agree with kdao, so stop beating up on yourself and do it \m/0

chewing and spitting out food - yeah! people totally do that all the time! Come on, kendallan, you know it's completely silly to even wonder if there's something remotely wrong with that. I hope you get some help for your condition...it is a disorder.0

Judging by the pics on your profile there is no way you look overweight and limiting yourself to so few calories will harm your body. If you want to get in shape and eat healthy then this is a great place to be for all the support and motivation, but you wont find peple here starving themselves. All the people I've spoken to are setting themselves goals and going about it in a healthy way. I hope I'm not coming off as sounding harsh but I agree with the others that it might be besto for you to speak to someone about it before it spirals out of control

I was going to comment to say the very same thing!!!! You are GORGEOUS!
While this is very easily the start of an eating disorder, by recognizing it and admitting it and talking about it here, I think you can fight it off yourself.... for right now.
You are strong. Fight that urge. FIGHT IT HARD. If you see you can't seem to control it, and feel it begins to control you, seek help. Don't let it go to the point of controlling you.
How soon until you get past the 200-300 calorie limit on the drops? I have two friends who have done this and it worked for them, although they were pretty miserable while they did it. One maintained her 17 lbs loss, one gained back 10 of her roughly 15 lbs loss.
Are you still eating LOTS and LOTS of the foods you are allowed to eat while on the drops, and keeping adequately hydrated? HYDRATION IS THE KEY if you are going to eat so little. I'm not sure how the lack of eating impacts your metabolism, because I believe the drops are supposed to counteract that, and the body can live without food for a while AS LONG AS YOU ARE KEEPING HYDRATED.
Just be careful with the chewing and spitting. It's a slippery slope that can lead into a severe eating disorder. I'm worried it could lead into bulimia.0 -

To see pictures of me, no one believes that I am still in the higher range of the unhealthy BMI, barely out of the obese categories. My gut reaction was to tell her that she didn't look like she needed to lose any weight too, but I refrained because looks can be deceiving. At the fair, I always win a prize from the "guess your weight" guy and LOVE it because they ALWAYS underestimate my weight.
Just make sure you are in a HEALTHY weight range (or your goal weight is) Kendall0 -
thank you to everyone who said kind and hurtful words. my sptting has been on two things a slice of pizza and a breadstick that is it. i know its stillbad but its very rare. also when i started this i was at 170 to175 depending on the day. looking at pictures you wouldnt think i was overweight i hold it well its all in my lower stomach, butt and boobs. i am overweight even though i dont look like i just ate a house.0

Hugs! Throw out your scale. Weight doesn't matter. Neither does BMI. People like you and I who "carry the weight well" are typically more muscle then the average person so we have to go by body fat percentage instead. (In my personal opinion, everyone should go by body fat percentage instead. ) I'd recommend seeing a trainer to find out your body fat percentage and set your goals based on that instead. You have to fuel your body in order to maintain that muscle so that you look good in a bathing suit and not soft and giggly even after achieving the "goal weight". What you weigh is no where near as important as your health. Some healthy fit people will weigh more but look better and others will find that the weight loss happens when they get healthy. It really depends on the amount of muscle and fat in the body not the scale. I'd still recommend seeing a therapist for dealing with the mental aspects of eating healthy. Even without an eating disorder, most people have a hard time mentally with changing their focus to health instead of a number on the scale because it seems backwards to eat more.0 -
