Here I am again!!! STUCK!!! I keep a great diet and try to switch it up a bit...
I do about 60 min of cardio 4-5 times a week at the gym (not counting running endlessly after my boys)....

Any advice??? Anything worked for anyone out there?

I am interested in hearing the responses, because I have been on a plateau for over a month once I hit 30 lbs and I am doing the same thing as you.. Maybe it's a mindgame =)
  • i've beenon plateau for two and 1/2 months. just hang in there and keep at it. I keep thinking if I don't still with it even thru the plateau I'll just gain again. Drather stay the same than gain!! Not much to go on, but maybe that will help!

    Two thoughts:

Are you keeping your NET calories at/above your goal?

Is it that TOM? Water retention as part of PMS can cause a temp delay, that usually rebounds the following week.

take a break..really..sometimes when we work out so much our bodies adjust quickly. remember rest is just as important as quality exercise. you said you switched things up..switched them from what? perhaps add some weight training to your routine and lower your cardio down. remember the more cardio you do, the more efficient your body gets. zumba is cardio that includes msucles too. dont do the same thing every day. do weights one day, cardio one day, zumba the next. and remember the more weight you lose the harder it gets to lose..so you may need to lower your calorie intake a bit.
  • Hi:)
I was stuck for about six weeks. LONGEST six weeks of my life.
I upped my calories by 400-500 for one week, and then the next week I dropped it back down to what my "goal" was. Worked like a charm.
Switch up your exercises. I do 30 Day Shred for a week, then switch to my Gazelle for a week.
    Good luck:)
  • I have the same problem. I will plateau and then lose a buch at once and then plateau again; it happens every 10lbs or so. Obviously every body is different, but I find what can usually break me personally out of it is by doing a fast or detox for a couple of days. I like the Hollywood 48 Hour Miracle Diet. It claims you can lose 10lbs in 48 hours, which is bull, but it has helped me break out of plateaus and to clean my system out. I was skeptical to try it, but it seems to work for me. Perhaps something similar will work for you? Good luck!

I was at a plateu for what seems like forever and did a nutritional cleanse, nothin crazy. I know what your thinking lol. But really it pushed past my plateu. But your body adapts to the stresses u put on it so if all you have been doin is running for over 2 weeks ur body will be in a state of Homeostasis, plateu. I'm all about strength training, the mote muscle you have the more cals u burn. Muscle takes energy aka cals to sustain, fat stores cals.

it would be a lot easier to help you out if we could see your diary. it's hard to help someone when you are in the dark. prehaps if you open it up we can see something that you don't.

They say that once you start to lose weight, you will go through a series of peaks and valleys; or plateaus in this case. You lose a lot at first, then taper off, then lose a little more, etc. Once you begin to drop the weight (depending on what weight you began at) your body begins to fight back. It's not because you are doing something wrong; it's just because your body is trying to adjust to the changes you are making. My advice? Try to change up the cardio routine - try a yoga class or go hiking, Your body will become used to the same routines and eventually build up resistance. So switch it up! Swimming, cross-training, pilates, etc. Maybe it's time to look for other cardio options. If you're doing weights with that cardio, change up some of your exercises. Even try some activites that can include your family members too! Volleyball, soccer, rollerskating - all these can be done with family or friends anywhere :) Don't get discouraged though; your mood also affects your weight loss just as much as your exercise routine does. Positive thoughts + positive actions = postive results :flowerforyou:

I learned something cool after I got my Heart Rate monitor, after doing an activity for a while, it got harder and harder to get my HR into the zone. Before, I was just doing the same level over and over, in my case walks outdoors and on a treadmill. In order to get my HR into the fat burning zone, I found I had to up my speed a little every day. This got me off my last plateau, and now, I practically have to run to get the same results as before. So, I have started switching things up, and it is really working for me.
    Hope this helps!

start tracking your sugar, once you get rid of it you don't even have to exercise to lose weight.
  • change up your workouts. You body gets used to doing the same thing so it stops working. Also try high intensity workouts for example if your a treadmill girl change the pace do a few mins easier and a few mins harder alternate between this for the whole time you're on the treadmill or what ever. Changing surprises your body and actually burns more calories
