Okay I Was Anorexic Age 8-15.
I Am Trying To Recover But Its Hard Alone And None Of The People In My Friends Understand The Struggle.
They Have Never Been Like I Am,See What I See,Feel Like I Feel Or Think Like I Do.
Is There Anyone Going Through This Disease Or Have Recovered?
Add?

Might be a bit sensitive and if you don't feel comfortable answering then just ignore it, but how does one become anorexic at age 8? My daughter is 7, and I cant imagine her caring about body image within the next few years.

you would be surprised at how much they get pressure in school my daughter is 11 and some kids told her she was fat and for a while there she was obsessed with her weight and what she would eat, trust me she's far from fat, so it is so possible unfortunately. Body image is what we believe should be as what we see in the media etc and for some its easy to just ignore the pressure of it for some its impossible.

I used to be anorexic/bullimic and i had to do a lot of therapy to get over it. The only reason why i want to loose weight now is for my health, i'm not getting younger and i want to live a long happy life :)

    good luck

It's interesting how things stick with us. My aunt screamed at me for running around the house naked when I was about that age, and I haven't been able to be clothe-less in front of someone since.

I'm sure you'll get the support you need from the community here.
    *hugs*

geeze louise that doesn't help having your mom telling your fat, its funny because for a few years my mom would love to compare my butt to hers saying that mine was huge and i got fed up and told her, remember my high school years??? (which is when i was anorexic) do you realize how it makes me feel when you tell me stuff like that and she stopped thank goodness, i never understood how she could say such a thing and how it was affecting me so much i was 35 after all.

I would never dream of telling my daughter that she is fat, quite the opposite i keep telling her how pretty and perfect she is

Thats what I intend to do when I have kids
I REFUSE for my kids to go through the constant struggle I go through each and every day!

It's great that u are trying to get better... I have a sister-in-law who is going through what you are. She was always chunky and every1 always teased her. She went on a massive diet n starved herself. I don't know if she is actually anorexic but she told me it's hard for her to eat normally cuz she feels like if she eats normally she will get fat. She is 12 right now. I try not to comment on her weight but last time I sAw her she weighed about 77 lbs down from 115 in about 4-5 months
  • You know, as gross as this is...I was belimic when I was 18. There was just so much pressure back in high school about having the perfect body! Eventually...I started having problems with urinating. I couldn't pee! So I got sent up to a hospital in Denver CO and they helped me surpass the disease. It was hard but the BEST decision I have ever made. You can do it! Add me if you would like. :)
