I am feeling impatient with myself today. I went out and tried on clothes at a store and I am in between a size 14 and 16. I saw so many cute things in 10s and 12s and I realized how far I have to go, and the whole thing just frustrated me. UGH How do you get a second wind when you feel like the rest of your journey seems impossible?? I would consider myself to be about 1/4 of the way there. I am feeling scared, like it would be so easy for me to fall off track and end up right back to square one.

I just tell myself... its not like i'd be doing anything better with my time if i wasnt eating healthy... honestly , its about being healthy! set more goals for yourself than just to lose weight... what type of physical things would you like to be able to do that you cant now ? I want to run, I want to do pushups. You cant just think about the numbers and the short term goal b/c you wont make it through that way. You have to think about changing your quality of life! You only get one life why waste it!?0

What is your motivation for losing weight and getting healthy. Medical issues, self image? For me I had to make a realization that I didn't like what I saw in the mirror, and the only person who could change it was me. I too have a long way to go, and am in for the long haul. I find a lot of motivation in reading the success stories on MFP, but more, If I can get outta bed every day, and feel better about myself and stick to good choices 95% of the time, I consider that a success. Good luck. If you want me to help you with your motivation, I'd be happy to be added as your friend.0

We are honestly in the EXACT Position. Start weight, goal weight... current pounds lost. I really know how you feel.
I just keep telling myself this is going to take me at least a year and a half. I try to celebrate each week I come through with some sort of result.
I go walking at the mall on my lunch hour, and I use the clothes I see and dream about as my incentive... try not to let it discourage you.
Hang in there !!!!

I understand the difficulty you're having! I started last July, and although I haven't lost what I wanted to by now, I have lost 46 pounds. But more than the weight loss, I feel like this is sustainable for the rest of my life, which I've never felt on a "diet" before. What has kept me going is doing a lot of reading. There is a lot of information out there about nutrition and exercise/strength training. Keep reading and try to apply what you've learned. For example, now instead of forcing myself not to eat a bunch of junk before bed, I know why it's not a good idea and the bad reactions by body will have if I do, so it's not even a struggle anymore. It just gets easier the more you learn and the more you do it.
Your starting weight and goal weight are very similar to mine (and we're the same height). Everyone is different, but if you keep at it, learn and seek advice, it will happen!

Is it more scary to gain weight or to stay the same weight?
Is it more scary to stay the same weight or to lose tiny incriments at a time?
It is an easy mind frame to get into... but being frustrated with how far you have to go that you decide to give up all together is silly....
What do you have better to do than just eat healthy? Were you happy when you were heavier? if Not then WHY in the WORLD would you want to give up? instead of looking at how far you have to go... start looking at how far you have come.
don't give up... that would just mean that all this hard work you have accomplished thus far was pointless and for nothing...0 -
one pound at a time. . .and celebrate them at each mile stone. . for me, that's every 20 lbs right now, as I get lower it'll be smaller milestones. . .I almost fell off last night due to depression, but instead, gave in slightly and went and exercised until I was exhuasted, not down. .
good luck0 -
I don't have as far to go as you do in terms of weight to lose, but then, foreveryone, there's maintenance! So we're all on a long journey, when you think about it.
But since the long-term goal is maintenance, and because lots of bad habits got me into this position, I try to focus on only one or two things each week. Like getting more veggies in, or getting ANY fruit in ( I am terrible with that one), or cooking more at home which means finding a lot of new recipes, etc., etc.
It takes a long time to build healthier habits and I've got lots of them to reform. So there's always something new to focus on as this journey continues.
And when I really feel like (or have felt in the past) that not much had happened yet, I try to find something that equals the weight I have lost and carry that around for a bit. Then I usually feel much more accomplished!0 -
Somewhere along the line, when I had lost about 30 pounds out of the 90 that needed to go buhbye, I was looking at clothes and feeling discouraged when a little voice in my head said, "Your brain cells are just going to have to overrule your fat cells from now on if you want to wear those size 10's."
I'm now in size 2's0 -
