I just wanted to take a minute to say hello. I am new to MFP and am looking forward to my weight loss journey. I hope to make many new friends along the way!

    welcome... and always remember these key items that helped me.... 1 pound equals 3500 calories. your resting metabolic rate is your current weight times 14. You can theoretically eat that many calories and stay exactly where you are. a reduction of 500 calories a day from your resting metabolic calories will loose you 1 pound a week. They say don't try to loose more than 1000 calories a day or 2 pounds a week. eat your workout calories to keep your body from starvation mode, oh and for me the most important thing... get a smartphone that supports the MFP app so you can log as you eat and look up foods. Good Luck! (lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks! and even better LDL cholesterol was 165 now 74.6)
