    Hello all,

I hope I can join your group?? I am 3/4" under 5' and am about 140 lbs at the moment. I am also 46 years old which seems to make losing weight more difficult for me. I never had much trouble previously, but now I am finding it a struggle. Any advice for me? I am feeling so tired these days that my workouts suffer I am afraid. My goal is to be 115 lbs. Any help you can give me would be very appreciated.

:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: the best advice about working out is to get off the couch and do something.....don't sit for more than 30 minutes straight.....if you don't feel like doing a major workout, go for a walk......take a good look at the food you are eating and make sure it is nutrition dense (don't eat anything that isn't loaded with nutrition)....drink more water....and take it one day at a time.

Annita – I do love fishing in the rain. I wish we lived closer since we are both fishing families. Both kids and hubby fish these days while I just sit on the boat and veg out.

Daybyday – good luck to you, also, with your foot surgery. Here’s to a speedy recovery for both of us.:drinker: :drinker:

Welcome WF0439! Barbie is right, just get moving. Working out pays off whether it is short ones or long ones and no matter what you do. Consistency is the key. Many of us found that setting short term goals helps a lot.

The kids and I went to Taos Ski Valley yesterday for our last day of skiing this year. While the day was long (3 hours in the car each way), we had a great time. Today we all need to rehydrate ourselves.

Taos Mountains are spectacular. All these years living here this was the first time I ever went to see the mountain. Next year we need to stay over night. lol

    Happy Friday all,

Thanks Jam and barbiecat for the advice! I will try that as sometimes I think I just can't do 30 minutes on the elliptical but going for a walk with the dog for 30 minutes seems less daunting.

there's nothing like dogs to keep you moving.....mine are begging to go to the dog park, so I'll put on my sturdy shoes and my coat and get going

    HI all

I missed getting to fish this weekend, before I could even leave my house my sis called , and off I went to help her. I WILL be back finshing this weekend. I will be getting back to the gym this week as well, I have to start tomorrow so I will be getting to bed early tonight even if it means I have to use a sleeping pill. So back to the gym tomorrow and fishingthis week end, that essentially sums up all the time I am not working this week.

    Ho wis everyone else doing?

Well I didn't wake up in time for the gym, I barely woke up in time for work:noway: . So that means I will be walking my lunch, and trying to eat at my desk.

I really to don't like the gym, it's boring and the only way I can make it even remotly interesting is trying to get the calorie counter on the elliptical to lap the timer; but I don't much care for walking by myself outside, I tend to start talking to myself. I wish, sometimes, that I could play sports, any type of group game but I am so abysmaly bad at them that I am not allowed to play. It makes me miss high school, you had to play even if it meant the team you where on always lost. Has anyone ever seen the movie "Where the Heart Is", there was a softball team in that movie that was having it's picture taken, not because it won the championship, in fact I think they lost every game, but they survived the season. I wish I could find a team like that; they know they're going to lose but who cares at least they are playing.

I need new things to do, I am getting bored to the point that cleaning my house is more fun.

Wow! Congratulations. You must be so happy and so proud of yourself. How will you celebrate? new outfit?

My condolences on your dog. I know it must have been hard for you. They are truly man's best friend and we are lonely without them.

Jam, I intend to celebrate by loosing the last 5. I am really proud but don't want to do any real celebrating until they all come off. Thank you for the thoughts on my dog. It has been a liitle rough and I haven't eaten the best since it happened (to many 100 calorie packs) but it's getting better. I only had her a short time but loved her a lifetimes worth! She was a sweet girl.

I'm glad things are going well at your house. I hope this is a turning point for you and it keeps getting better. How are your mom and dad doing? Is your mom more cooperative with you reguarding your dad? I hope so. Take care...:flowerforyou:

Babygurl- Things are better overall, so that is good. Mom turned 93 and we celebrated with strawberry shortcake instead of a regular birthday cake.

Saturday was a long day and ended with a trip to ER as my son got hit in the head with a soccer ball trying to block a corner kick. He got dizzy and couldn't stand up, so we brought him to get checked out. He is OK. It was a very mild concussion if a concussion at all.

I weighted in at 138.4 yesterday and hope the scale is so kind on my weekly check in day which is Wednesday. Even if it was a bounce yesterday, it was a nice bounce.

    Happy Monday all,

This article was in our employee health newsletter.

March is National Nutrition Month and the theme for 2011 is Eat Right with Color. Our meals are often a palette of white, pale yellow, and browns, but we need color in our diet including fruits and vegetables. Here are ten ways to add fruits and vegetables into your diet every day:
    1. Have a veggie omelet. Add chile, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and/or spinach to your eggs.
    2. Make a morning smoothie. Adding banana, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, or tropical fruit can add one to two servings of fruit to your diet each day.
    3. Swap your lunch crunch. Have fresh vegetables with dip instead of potato or corn chips with your lunch.
    4. Get crazy with your pizza toppings. Green peppers, fresh tomatoes, purple onions, spinach, mushrooms, green chile, and/or pineapple are great options.
    5. Have an afternoon snack. Slice an apple, mix with two tablespoons of walnuts, and toss with cinnamon.
    6. Enhance your salads. Have dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach and add more vegetables and fruit like cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, dried cranberries, and mandarin oranges.
    7. Simple soups. Tomato and vegetable soups are super easy to prepare and count towards your vegetable intake for the day. Choose low-sodium whenever possible.
    8. Have vegetable kabobs. Instead of all meat, alternate each piece of meat with two to four pieces of vegetables including tomatoes, diced peppers, onions, squash, and mushrooms.
    9. Pump up your pasta. Add shredded carrots, zucchini, or spinach to pasta dishes such as lasagna or tomato-based sauces. Adding shredded vegetables to meatloaf or chili also works.
    10. Fast from the freezer. Keep bags of frozen vegetables without sauce and unsweetened fruit on hand for a quick last minute addition to your meal.

    Enjoy!

It may be spring somewhere but I'm still wearing wool and winter coats and knitting a wool blanket and wearing long underwear but at least it gets light earlier in the morning so I've been walking the dogs for 30-45 minutes after breakfast and before line dance class

I have been on a trip for more than a week and haven't had time to post or to log food and exercise but I have been getting over 10,000 steps a day and doing crunches, squats, and some other exercises and eating as healthy as I can with restaurant meals and family gatherings.

Tonight is my oldest son's senior prom. As graduation approaches I'm not quite sure how I'm feeling about all of this. I'm excited for him to begin life's next chapter but sad to see my "baby" growing up. But that is our ultimate goal as parents right. To raise a productive adult!!

Anyway, I'm trying a little harder on the weight loss side. I'm having bunion surgery June 1 and I would really like to get into the 140s. This is going to throw a wrench into my progress, but hopefully after I heal my exercise will be better - especially walking and jogging.

Babygurl - It must be so exciting to be within 3 pounds of your goal! Good luck reaching it.

Barbie - I hope you had a nice trip and good visits with family. I am sure with all you did while away you are still on track.

Daybyday - Good luck with all the prom and Senior stuff. I understand how it can be exciting yet sad as your children grow up and start their own adult life. Hang in there! I am sure that you will do OK with staying on track or at least almost on track.

Yes, this thread is getting quiet and I hope we all find the time to pick it back up again.

My son is back in the hospital so I have not been eating and exercising as I should. But, I am doing OK and we hope he comes home either today or tomorrow.

One of my co-workers found a picture of me at an office potluck that was taken right before I started mfp. He said the difference is amazing and asked if I wanted the picture as a reminder and if I thought it would help with the last 10 pounds. I took a deep breath and said yes, so he is sending it to me. I suppose I should do before and now pictures. If I have the time and can figure it out, I will take another deep breath and post them. Oh wait, that means I need to take a current picture then. lol

I started back doing arm exercises at home today. Tomorrow I will start back with GutNBut and just alternate them.

    Have a great Saturday all,

    Jeannie (jam)

  Jeannie, I am sorry to hear that your son is back in the hospital:cry: that is so hard for a mom to deal with:cry:

 babygurl, how great that you are so close to your goal:bigsmile: my experience was that the last few pounds seem to take longer to get rid of so, do not be discouraged, just keep on with your good habits

  daybyday, it is always challenging to start a new chapter in your life ....just take it day by day (I'll be that's how you approach all of life's challenges )

 we just got back from our trip and are glad to be home:bigsmile: but    we can't pick our pets up from boarding until Monday morning so it is very quiet here

 we are going to do an Isagenix cleanse day tomorrow to get back on track after some bad eating on our trip:bigsmile:  one of the best things to do on a cleanse day is mindless chores so it will be a perfect time to do all the unpacking and laundry.

  I found some exercises I could do in the motel room in the dark while hubby was still sleeping (squats, walk push-ups, and some standing yoga stretches

 yesterday when we arrived at the motel after almost ten hours of driving in the rain we were handed a key card with a picture of a beautiful pizza and the phone number to call for delivery:laugh:    what clever marketing:laugh: but we resisted and made an Isagenix shake in the room:bigsmile:

Let's switch to the April string.

Babygurl - I must be so nice to be so close to goal.

DS is home and doing well. It is going to be a hard, but I think we will make it.

No weight loss this week...ughhh I'm soo bummed!! Oh well it is what it is and I can't change it! I'm guessing I'm not going to make my goal of being at 100 lbs by race day since my race is this weekend. I am coming to terms with it I guess.      ok I'm a little better now...:ohwell: .Anyway I am hoping to be able to run all of it and not float away as we have tons of flooding here in Indiana and Kentucky. I am super excited to get out there and run run run!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter...I decided what the heck I'm a little depressed I'm gonna treat myself so I had 1 Cadbury egg and it was delish but 1 was the limit!

    Have a wonderful week everyone!!
