What would it take for you to give someone the bird?

Not an action but if someone asked you to give them the bird for a photograph. Would you just do it by simply being asked? Would it take some crazy idea? How would you want to be approached?

I'm going to be doing a new project and it involves me asking people to flip me off so I can photograph it. I want to be able to convince people to flip me off but not just normal people. I'd like to have cops, firemen, construction workers (yeah im sure this will be easy), teachers, rabbi's, priests etc.

Why am I doing this? In short I believe that intentions are greater than words or actions and I want to convey this through the bird. Many birds in fact. :afro:

    I hope you plan on posting some of the photos. most people will do it just cause you ask them too. Generally a lousy driver or someone says something tacky will make me flip the bird.

    I wonder what it would take to get a Munk to show you the bird? I bet you could never get that one!

    I think I would need a guarantee it wouldn't be on fb so I wouldn't have trouble with the morals clause of my work contract.

    when i'm mad, it doesn't take much although i find it a bit more satisfying to curse...

    i guess it'd depend on who you ask. i'd be surprised if you have much luck getting a priest or rabbi to participate. construction workers and teenagers on the other hand...

    My mom used to have a parakeet named "Flip the Bird" (named by my sister, not by my mom). I'd flip the bird for a photograph for fun, as long as my kids weren't around to see it. :-)

    Every photo will be posted on my website. It's going to be a year long project taking at minimum 1 photo every day. Hence this is QUITE the commitment and I want to ensure I can succeed.

    Actually, that would likely be the easiest. They Monks are able to distinguish between intent and action. It's all part of accepting the negative and positive of life and to explain that I would have to write a book LOL.

    I think a lot of people would do it for a pic but for the people on the shy side or afraid it would reflect badly due to work/etc maybe you could do photos playing with the perspective. like focused on the bird in the foreground with the person unfocused in the background but still able to make out the uniform/priest garb/etc.

    that's exactly what i was thinking :)

    i love the whole concept of your project. i really hope you decide enough people will participate because i think it's too creative and thought provoking to turn your back on.

    TOTALLY! I totally agree w/ the 'intentions are greater than gestures' school of thinking so if you approached this bird on the street, I would wholeheartedly flip you both birds!
