I was wondering if your body re-calculates the amount you need? I have doing well on 1200 cals since jan and have managed to lose lots since then. I was at goal 2 weeks ago but i want to lose the last 4lbs but im sooo much more hungrier at the moment.

Does your body recalculate what you need to eat? and how do you cope? I am having loads of water and eating enough i think. Hmm bit confused.

another question, mfp sometimes comes up with a message- you have lost more than 10lbs bla bla, time to recalculate your goal? does that mean change the amount i want to lose? Im confused.

I would think that it would be a pairing of 2 things. 1) a raised metabolic rate making your appetite larger and 2) a slight tweak may be required to modify the diet to match your specific needs. How much veggies and fruit do you get in during the run of a day and how much protein and good fats do you get into the diet?

You do need to go to "GOALS" and enter your new weight as you are losing so that MFP can recalculate your BMR and set your calorie intake based upon your activity level and your weight loss rate (.5, 1 lb., 2 lb. a week). I found out along the way of losing weight that on occasion my body would "ask to be fed" and while I felt guilty eating more than I should have, I typically didn't gain weight (as long as I kept it healthy and fresh). So sometimes, you do need to just listen to your body. But certainly recalculate your goals along the way.

well, as far as being more hungry goes.... that is a loaded question but here are some tips. Try eating more foods that are high in fiber. Fiber will make you feel more full. On the flip side of that, there are actually some foods that will make you hungry shortly after you eat them. I want to research this more but processed carbs are the main culprit!!

this kinda speaks to a couple of your questions... depending on where you are with you goal, or more specifically, your body composition, you may need to eat more if you are exercising more. If you have a lot of body fat still, this doesn't necessarily apply but if you are becoming lean, then you will want to eat more when you work out more so your body has the fuel to exercise.

as far as recalculating goes... it is referring to recalculating your goals for food & exercise. When you weigh more, you burn more calories. So as you lose weight, you will either need to eat less calories and/ or work out more to stay on the same pace. If you go to the goals section, you will see that mfp has calculated your "maintenance" or "break even" calories for you. This is the amount of calories you burn through an average day of normal activity. You will see this number go down as you lose weight. So in order to keep the same calorie deficit, you need to eat less or exercise more.

Thanks. I do feel like my body is asking for more food, im a lot more active than I used to be so could be that, food intake has been a bit rubbish this weekend so could be a knock on effect from that.

thanks for your reply. Im a lot more leaner now, was 140ish in jan and now 124 and much more active. So there isnt a lot of fat to burn. Maybe just my body demanding more food! My job is active too so maybe I need to change that in my goals bit

Since you are so very close to goal (Congratulations!!!) perhaps you could start working towards eating your maintenance calories.
Have you adjusted for that yet?
Try increasing your daily calorie allotment in 50 - 100 calorie increments so your body can begin to get used to more fuel.

    You've done really great!
