Product Placement on The Biggest Loser
Anyone else disgusted by it?
I'd personally rather see an ad on the bottom of the screen throughout the entire show than see the trainers and contestants try to sell me Progresso Reduced Fat soups or Subway sandwiches in a way where it's supposed to seem like a casual conversation.
It's totally contrived and it really takes away from the point of the show.

I agree! I always DVR the show so I just fast forward through those parts!0

I totally agree, especially since some of the crap they are promoting isn't that great for you like low fat peanut butter...that stuff is very similar in calories to the real deal, only it has more sugar which is definitely not good.
I know that the show has sponsors, but sheesh. Totally agree.0 -

I do the exact same thing! As soon as I see them go into the kitchen to discuss how awesome Ziploc something or others are, I FFWD!0 -
my daughter;s and I laugh so hard every time they do product placement - it has so painful to watch!0

hahaha i TOTALLY agree!!! I hate how they TRY to make it look natural, like "look at these ziplock containers, they are great for blah blah blah....." And you can tell it is a total set up. Glad I'm not the only one!0

advertising is the point of the show - if it were to promote healthy weight loss they would focus more on healthy eating and workout habits and losing a reasonable amount of weight each week not misleading people into thinking 2 or 3 weeks of weight loss plus dehydration is occurring in a week.
They would also measure body fat loss not weight
The fact that most of the contestants fail to keep the weight off shows that what they do doesn`t really work0 -
I agree that there is WAY too much product endorsement! Also the fact that they are all apparently counselors now...kinda gets on my nerves.0

Ughhhh yes I cannot stand it! It's so incredibly fake that it's almost painful.0

When they showed them making the soup I said they are not really going to it it. The sodium count is way to high. I am sure they just advertise for it and don't really eat the product.0

HAHAHA! My husband and I love them! I think that the new trainers are especially bad at it. The girl is always overreacting, whether it's the drama of the weigh-in when she needs to hide behind a contestant or put on her best counselor face when talking to the contestants.
Another note - did anyone notice, when they were on the separate ranches, that the red team spent a lot of time wandering around and watching the trainers work out?0 -
OMG! The gum is THE WORST!! And Jeni O Turkey!!!! GTFO!!!! And Subway!!!!! Ya & Zip Loc's the newest one! Oh! And Brita water filters!!0

No way!! I tell my husband every week how I cant stand that new trainer. I always say "here comes the drama queen". Her facial expressions drive me INSANE!! So freaking dramatic!!! Thanks for the laugh!0 -

My thoughts exactly...the soup for one serving is tons of sodium...and I think just about everyone can eat a whole can!!!! :sick:0

glad I'm not the only one! It's really getting out of hand... I remember on the first seasons it was nowhere near the level it is now!0
