Eating your BMR calories per day?

Ok so I started this journey and have lost 16 kilos with another 17 to go. I let MFP guide me with how many calories I was to eat each day. I set myself as sedentary to lose 1.5 - 2 lb per week. My exercise I factored in was 460 per week.
So that gave me goals of 2100 - 750 =1350. Never really gave BMR a thought.
Now today I check and my BMR is 1670 is this unhealthy and If so how come MFP gave me those figures to work with.
I'm confused with how much I should be eating per day.

I would assume that your body is fueling itself with the fat reserves you have left. At some point though, you wont have them anymore and would need to bump to at least your BMR and more (exercise calories).0

MFP does not take into consideration that the deficit that you need to reach your weight loss goals may take you below your BMR. i do believe it's important to have net calories be above BMR, so i wish a message would pop up whenever this happens during the goal setting process. however, i believe if the deficit would cause the calorie limit to be under 1200, they will just set 1200 as your goal.
as you approach your goal weight, the more important it will be to eat consistently above your BMR. otherwise, your body will hold onto fat more readily, and you may start losing muscle.0 -
I started lifting weights about a month ago at that time my weight loss slowed to 300- 500gms per week, previously I was losing 1 - 1.2kg per week. I thought my weight might have slowed for that reason, so I started zig zagging last week and lost 1 kg but again this week I have remained the same weight for 4 days.
Should I bump up my cals to at least my BMR0 -
I'm very confused about this as well. Never even heard of BMR until I got here!
My BMR is 1441 (according to an online calculator), my BMI is 24.45. So not overweight anymore (yay), but I'm looking to lose 4 more kilos, which would give me a BMI of 23 and I should be able to fit nicely in a clothes size 12 (UK). Sure, I'd love to be even slimmer, but I want a life as well, so for now my goal will be the BMI of 23 :drinker:
MFP gives me 1230 cals a day. I don't really exercise, bar a daily walk (very fast), usually this gives me an extra 200 cals, which I use up. I seem to be quite stuck for a while now, going up and down a kilo on a weekly basis. Surely I'm not eating too little, am I?0 -
I posted a similar query here:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/198275-bmr-and-goal-settings
on MFP my BMR is listed as 1252 and they give me a goal of 1200 cals (now I just reset my goal asking for 0.5lb a week rather than MFP's recommended 1lb a week and it sets my goal as 1300.
On most other websites with BMR calculators my BMR is 1381.
I haven't lost for about 10 weeks. I have upped my exercise and am eating less junk than I used to. So I should lose. But I am not. SO I am upping my calories to a minimum of 1300 to see what happens. If nothing happens in 6 weeks I will up it to 1380/1400.0
