It’s a general accepted idea that through exercise and proper diet we can lose weight, improve our shape and get healthier. There is nothing wrong with that, but there are also other ways which makes us look thinner. And one is - use proper clothing! But how do I dress myself to look thinner?

1. Use monochrome clothing

Monochrome clothing means using only one color for your whole outfit. This is a great trick of most of the fashion editors and stylists. For example, two colors break the body in half, though looking like the a lighter color for your bottom makes you look heavy. One, for example black or darker color, creates a longer, leaner look. And if you must wear two colors, use the darker color for your bottom and the lighter, for your upper body.

2. Blend shades of the same color

Here is another amazing tip which will make you look thinner. Use different shades of the same color. For example stone brown to coffee brown. Or use a scale of greys, like perl gray to slate or charcoal. And remember again here, use the lighter colors for your upper body!

3. But if I still want to mix colors?

Alright, you can do that too, but with great caution. You really should only use darker colors. Those color make you look thinner. Use colors like mink brown or charcoal gray, maybe also deep forest green and of course black. Everything should flow from head (lighter) to toe (darker color).

4. Some final tips to improve looking thinner

Skirts Skirts should be longer than they are wide. Use fuller skirts, because they look longer and better, but beware that straight skirts look better shorter. Hem lines look better when they reach the narrowest part of the calf. But avoid really long skirts, because they will make you look older than you really are. If your buttocks look heavy, avoid pleats - they add pounds to your shape.

Jackets One general rule for jackets - use long-line, single-breasted jackets with hidden pockets. Also do not use belts or bulky pockets or anything that draws attention to the midriff.

Pants Wide bottom pants are a no-no here. They will make you look bigger than you really are. Use well-cute, tailored pants without pockets or with hidden pockets.

You should also consider not comparing yourself to movie stars or supermodels, which in general look thinner on TV. That is because a lot of people, especially women feel depressed about they appearance. Hope these clothing tips will make you feel better about yourself, but you should never forget to use proper diet combined with 3 times per week exercise, for about 30 minutes which will help you look healthier, thinner and more happy!

    And, one more tip.

Stand up straight! Sounds cliche, but as a singer/voice coach this is the single best piece of advice I give my students. Especially working with young women, I've seen this one habit change an entire appearance and outlook on life.

If you have good posture, your back will thank you for it, you'll look more confident and your body will look better. This is one reason that movie stars look better in pictures than the rest of us humans. . . they stand up straight.

Thankyou, that is all. I have now climbed down from my soapbox.
