its midterms this week so i haven't been to the gym all week but i've stayed within my calories (for the record, 1200 calories DOES NOT go very far without exercise). is that a bad thing? i don't plan on making a habit out of it but i just wanted to make sure that my mfp success doesn't completely depend on my going to the gym four times a week.

You should be fine. Some times your body needs the break any ways.0

nah, you're fine. Exercise is a good thing, but it's actually not required for you to lose weight- a deficit is... and if you're staying within your calories then you will still lose weight. Good luck with the exams!:flowerforyou:0

You can lose weight with no exercise. Exericse is for CV health, toning, and over-all "good feeling" and health but you can lose weight without it.0

I agree...it is soooo hard to stay within 1200 cals...I feel like I have to exercise in order to feel full throughout the day...but like it was said earlier, all you need is the deficit!0

You shouldn't be at 1200 calories given the small amount you wish to lose and your age. You should be trying for no more than 1/2 a pound per week loss. YOu can read the posts linked below for more info:

I think too that 1200 is low, I generally have one-two days where I go over about 400 cals, usually on the weekends. I figure this balances out my week. I have never lost 2lbs per week. I am consistantly losing 1 per week. I didn't even lose a lot my first couple weeks, just a pound per week. I figure this is working the way it should, I have my cheat days, the others I eat each and every exercise cal, and maybe another 50 or so. Thanks for the past post reminders, I will certainly read them!0
