Poison?0

women do not realize how much these artificial sweetners mess with our hormones. For example You are better off with the more natural yogurt at 100 or so calories than with a 60 calorie yogurt with all those chemicals in it.0

Splenda is sugar alcohol. That's not poison.
And aspartame has to be consumed in ungodly amounts to be considered a poison.0 -
Yeah Aspartame is pretty nasty stuff but again -- everything in moderation. Splenda, however, is a lot safer than aspartame and a godsend for diabetics.
Ha, if you think about it, everything is bad for you in some sense or another... whether it be food allergies, too much of something, or chemical bliss.0 -

Even telling people about it, they just tell me it's better than them using real sugar so they load up their tea with 3-4 packets.0 -

This article really explains however I agree with baisleac that with small amount youd be fine,I recently started using Truvia it does not have aspartame in it however Im pretty sure my yogurt does0 -
Life has many risks... I will take my chances with splenda0

I can't believe how people believe everything they hear/read. Do some research!0

And in two days the scientific studies will change again! I remember back when Strawberries caused cancer. And when eating one Egg a day would kill you.
I don't think that a lot of additives are particulary good for a person, but I think that you can find about 12 million studies on both sides of the fence on most of these things!
Remember when animal fat was SO bad so everyone pushed for the use of partially hydrogenated soybean oil in fast food restaurants? Only to find out that they were filled with trans fats which are bad?!
I'm not disagreeing that those things could be bad for you, but if you listen to the right person on the right day or the wrong person on the wrong day EVERYTHING could be considered poison!!0 -

From that site's legal page:
"

Check your source.0 -
I enjoy a little brown sugar poison in my oatmeal and a tad of poison with my coffee.0

I decided to stop using artificial sweeteners when we had a problem with rats (due to a neighbor's hoarding). We tried everything to kill them & the exterminator told us there was nothing he could do about them. Then he told us a trick... pour a bunch of packets of "either the pink stuff or the blue stuff, doesn't matter which" into a plate & lay the plate out. He said it fries the blood vessels in rats almost immediately. We took his advice & the rats were gone within days. I don't care how much of it yo have to eat before it's considred poison... in my opinion, it's still poison. I'm not putting in it my body.0

Though more expensive, Truvia, and any stevia based sweetener is straight up made from plants so it's very safe. Also, agave nectar...there are a LOT of non sugar sweeteners that can be used in healthy ways0

Do you eat an entirely clean diet? Based on this logic... processed foods are poison b/c they do the same to a human's insides. Just curious.0 -
Love Splenda!0

I know, it cracks me up. Quoting a source called 'The truth about Splenda', I am sure that site is not slanted at all <insert heavy sarcasm here>
I want to see independent studies that are not paid for by the competition. Than, maybe I will believe the results. Until such time I will use Splenda in moderation and survive just fine.0 -

How is this a helpful supportive post?
Seems to me as though it's a direct attack on other members and does not offer any helpful information, such as why an artificial sweetener might be harmful.0 -
The air we breathe outside is full of chemicals and carcinogens. No one wears a respirator to the park. I don't think we can avoid chemicals. I do consume artificial sweeteners. Maybe someday I will regret it, but I just have to have some things sweet. :blushing:0

Notice he did NOT say the 'yellow' stuff.0 -
everything is bad for you now days.Did you know many building materials contain formaldehyde, more so in mobil or trailer homes.
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/formaldehyde
a friend of mine recently bought a new mobil home and when it was done there were notices all over it about the formaldehyde and its dangers.
Oh and if you live near high tension power lines you should probobly be a lil worried since those have also been linked to cancer.
Chemicals in our water bottles, make up,hair dye, deoderant, have all been supposdly linked to really bad things.not to long ago they also were saying cell phones cause brain cancer.
There is always some new big bad thing that we should be scared of.
yet we live longer now than ever before.
im not going to worry about.0 -
I can't believe how many people still eat animal products.:(
(I'm trying to join in with the "can't believe" thing, not trying to start political/moral drama. Go ahead and ignore me if you like).0 -

did you know if you put alka seltzer on bread and feed it to sea gulls they will drop dead,so where are all the people crusading against this.
rats are rats we are not rats lol0 -

Not a very good argument, because many toxins come from plants as well. Don't believe me, go roll in some poison ivy. Saying it is 'all natural' because it is plant based is just a marketing tactic and not research.0 -
Also eating artificial sweets sends a message to you're pancreas to make insulin for the sugar that is supposed to be on it's way. The sugar never arrives and you're left feeling hypoglycemic and craving sugar.
Eating artificial sweets is not helping anyone break their addiction to sugar, aspartame is 200 times sweeter than sugar and Splenda or sucralose is 600 times sweeter, essential making the problem worse. You have to get used to being satisfied with natural sweet things, fruit, carrots, etc.
Splenda hasn't even been consumed by humans long enough to know what the cumulative affects are to eating it.0 -
